Not quite. The bottom of the grille either has to be as far forward as the top of the bumper (like the concept car), or it has to be a 90 degree angle to a horizontal top of the bumper. Also, the shark nose should continue over the tops of the headlights.

It's the area below the headlights/grill, but above the bumper, that do the most to make the front end an awkward design. But, the front edge of the hood and overall headlight shape play a roll, too. The hood probably should overhang the headlights for a full-width shark nose, as on the concept above, or the Vision concept...

Before I found out the Vision would be a $200k exotic, I was hoping that's what the new 1 series would look like.

BMW obviously has some good stylists- they're just doing design-by-committe for their mainstream cars.

Vision concept is a great design. The new F20 is awkward in many angles. Yeah, Chris Bangle should come back for BMW.

Really smart, just as smart as Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet, Renault, VW, GM, FIAT and some other makes they don't have to fear Chinese will copy their ugly cars.

This is ugly as sin - what are BMW playing at?

The exterior is just a mess - it doesn't look like a premium brand car at all - could be a re-badged Hyundai.

Interior doesn't look special at all - like they've just copied the interior from the current golf.

BMW better not screw up the new 3 series or they'll really damage the brand.

F20 120d exhaust tailpipes

I've seen that the F20 118d as only one exhaust tailpipe.

Will the 120d have one also or will it have two a la F10 (520d)? Does anyone noticed that?

I gotta believe that's Monte Carlo, not Estoril, but yeah that does look pretty darn good. Are they going to introduce 120i and 128i versions soon? M-Sport is begging for more "go".

BMW visualizer at http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...isualizer.html says it's estoril.

To all German/European members:
I just saw a car delivery truck with two F20s on it heading to my dealer. On its way back one of the cars was gone.
Conclusion: The new 1series is being delivered to the dealerships and should be on display either right now or very very soon.
Sorry if that Info was already posted before.

Did they recently decide to put Darth Vader on the board of directors??

I'm sticking to the E82 look despite the "enhanced" interior...

Wow, I just saw this new 1 series for the first time and I must say it is repulsive. Looks like a BMW with down sydrome (no offense to anyone), but it does... Reminds me a little of this ridiculous thing from GM...

Many people here commenting on the looks off the new 1er should have a drive first. This is a superb chassis with the best engines on the market at this time. I have tested the 118d and was already very impressed. (the car i have now is a 525d touring ) The 120d is really amazing to drive. everything is working fine, the seat position, the pedals are well balanced, the gearshift is accurate and then there's that engine, pulling from as low as 1000rpm untill 4500. I like the 5er touring i have now butt the 400kg less weight makes suchs a difference. Simply one of the best cars i have ever driven. And then there's a fuel consumption of a normaly boring car. As a daily driver this is almost as good as a 911 who will cost you 10 times the money.

No competition for the 1er and very happy that BMW is still making a rwd car in this segment. My 120d is ordered, can't wait.
