How d'you turn the traction control off?

Just wondering how you do it? D'you just push the button above the sport/eco pro selector?

push and hold for 5 sec turn everything off completely. hold till "DSC off" appears on the screen.

just selecting sport+ allows for alot of wheelspin and some sliding/drifting but it will go in and kill the slide/drift, especially at higher speeds.

If you push the DSC button it enables the DTC(TRACTION), whats the difference between DSC and DSC+DTC ??

Quote:
"Dynamic Stability Control, DSC, incl. Cornering Brake Control
(CBC), Hill-Start Assistant, Brake Assist, Dry Braking function and braking
readiness. DSC is able to detect any slight skidding and stabilise the car
within fractions of a second. The traction mode sub-function (DTC) allows
increased wheel slip to optimise acceleration in certain driving conditions
and to enable more dynamic driving."

DTC is designed for reduced-grip surfaces, such as snow, gravel or mud. With full DSC active, the traction control intervenes so much on slippery surfaces that it's actually more difficult to control the vehicle (think controlled sliding on sand). DTC enables you to use your skills to control the vehicle, but with enough intervention to prevent crazy spinning.

So... DTC is less "interventive" then DSC ?

The SPORT mode disables DSC but DTS stays on? and the SPORT+ disables DSC and DTC ?

thanks for the reply

If I understand it correctly :

You have 3 levels of electronic stability available:
- nothing
- DTC
- DSC

DTC being only a more spin-permiting version of DTC for dynamic driving.

- In all driving modes, by default, DSC is enabled
- DTC can be switched on by pushing the dedicated button or by selecting the sport+ mode
- All Off mode can be selected by pushing this button for 5sec+.

Exactly as you described it, with one small detail...you say ''In all driving modes, by default, DSC is enabled'', well it is true except for the Sport+ (if available), where the DTC is enabled (as you say in No.3 bullet).

Just one thing to add: When you deactivate the DSC, the EDL (Electronic Differential Lock) is activated, which resembles the function of a Limited-Slip Differential. EDL is active, only when DSC/DTC is off.

I have tested the F20 on an ice racing track, and I was quite impressed by both DTC and the limited slip differential function. I believe it was called ADB on that particular car. I was allowed to drive rather sideways with DTC enabled, and some wheelspin was allowed, which is very important to get traction in deep snow. I could feel that the car used its brakes to reduce understeer.

I was however able to drive quite a bit faster with only ADB, and the car was easy to control. Powersliding can be tricky with an open differential, but the ADB did a good job. It felt almost like a real limited slip differential.

i have a f20 118i manual with that i have no sport + what i have picked up is if i launch the car in sport mode the traction kicks in which makes the car droop power and picks up again like 2secs later but with traction control off it doesnt do that my question is how do i launch the car in sport mode without letting the traction kill the power beacuse the car is so much responsive in sport mode

You can't!

You can use the DTC mode and get used to the comfort mapping. The engine is just as responsive and powerful, you just have to push the throttle pedal further in. Or you can use DSC Off, and benefit from the fake differential brake as well.

Coding Sport+ mode is pretty simple. Do you have an automatic?
