Bad experience trying to buy a part from BMW of Escondido

Thought you all might like to hear this especially if you live in the San Diego area. The place is called, "Brecht Enterprises Inc dba BMW of Escondido".

I was buying a Crowl for my Z4. The quote was 267.00. At that price, the guy said free shipping since it was over 200.00. Fifteen minutes later I get a call, and the guy tells me, "Oh, I made a mistake, it's going to be 15.00 for shipping". OK, no worries at that moment. Then, twenty minutes later I get another call from a different guy telling me that the original guy was way off base, and shipping was now going to cost me 27.00. So I told him, "Nah, it's not going to be 27.00 or 15.00. You're now going to ship this to me on YOUR dime." He tells me no can do. So I pose a question to him, "You mean to tell me that you're about to lose a sale of 267.00 over a 27.00 shipment fee?" And he says - wait for it - "Yes." So I tell him, "I have absolutely no idea where you went to business school, but you have one hell of a business model going on at your place."

So if you happen to be around that area, or do a search for a part for your BMW, best to stay away from this place. In fact, I would say, run as fast as you can from this place.

Well, they screwed up by constantly changing the price. If they said up front it was $267 plus $27 shipping, you would have had the information to make a purchase decision. It just sounds like they don’t ship much, have an untrained employee or just don’t know what they are doing.

That place is basically dealership equivalent to amateur hour. I've been there for car sales and parts and every time it's below expectation. Keep in mind my expectations when working with a dealership is already extremely low, so you pretty much need to put in overtime to go below those expectations.

For parts had the exact same experience. Got a quote over the phone, said I would pick it up, showed up and price was different. I believe we call this classic bait and switch. For car sales it was even more of a circus than usual, including being told that "we don't normally allow test drives on Sunday, but I like you and am willing to make an exception if you are willing to buy a car". Same salesman then would text me quotes for a m4, even though we test drove a m235i.

Your assessment is 100% right. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

BMW of Escondido sucks, at least the dealership side is absolutely terrible. I ordered my car through them back in 2016 and it was nothing but let down after let down. It was a joke. Sorry for how your business went down, but not surprised whatsoever

I ordered some $20 worth of parts over the phone through them and didn't pay for shipping. When I went to pick my parts up the salesman basically laughed in my face when telling me their parts dept is on a different lot down the street. It was my first time at the dealership so I had no idea. Kinda arrogant salesman

Use getbmwparts.com. They are a dealership on the East Coast and are discounted over what you get at most locations. I've heard good things about them.

I have been using them for several years, and get great service. It is less expensive to buy from them than from my local dealer.

The sales person doesn’t make money on parts so why would he care if the difference is a few bucks.

Did you ask to talk to the sales manager? That usually resolved things like this for better or worse.

I had a deal in place with their "Manager" for the Alpina B7 before I bought my PTT and it quickly fell apart. Before I left to go pickup the car, the Manager's "Manager" said the deal couldn't be done anymore because they didn't want to sell the B7 at a loss. Wasted 2 days of time with these clowns. Just stay away from them.
