What would you pay for an...

Audi rs6 2003 125,000 miles? Kicker is that everything has been replaced within the past year, I mean turbos plugs pump everything within the last 5k miles. Oh and it's a 6 speed manual conversion done by Audi specialists no check engine lights codes etc everything functions perfectly and the car is professionally tuned. What would you pay? : ) I'm contemplating

Interesting question. To me, I wouldn't pay much of anything. If it is a car on YOUR radar, I'd look at what the market bears and then SLASH that price way down.

Sadly for the seller all those parts are just maintenance and won't/shouldn't have a huge impact on sales price.

I'd be willing to go a touch over market providing the car is overall in good shape and has a well documented service history, but don't you even for a moment consider coughing up for the cost of his parts expense which was, no doubt, huge.

Another way of putting it- if the current owner just put $10K in work/parts on his $15K car that doesn't make it worth $25K. Heck, he'll be lucky to get 16-17.5- it's worth top market value presuming in good shape and full history, not worth what he put into it.

I agree, the cost of the maintenance is not something to pay for. Rare car and ultra rare conversion would make me pay a little over bookvalue but not much. Something about the ttv8 and 6speed make it very intriguing to me, especially with all new parts/service.

18K seems fair. I wouldn't pay 22K for it, that's for sure.

An old Audi that's been modified? I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

Those things get expensive fast. Assuming you've got the cash to tie up an E39 M5 of similar vintage would hold its value MUCH better and the repair bills wouldn't be as bad.

If it weren't for everything replaced I wouldn't take a second look, the sheer amount of money spent on upkeep has kept me interested.

Why is a car with SO much recent work done for sale? Ask yourself if you would sell it after you just dumped tons of money into it. There is a reason it's for sale. Find that reason and you'll find your answer.

Going to look at it tomorrow, will get to the bottom of it. I won't be spending anything near 22k. I will take it for a drive though weather permitting.

all the guys have good points. don't pay too much just because of repairs. also have it checked out or at least call the mechanic who's been working on it.

Car looks great for its age. Bought the car off the guy that did the conversion, then went over everything so it'd only have to be done once. It's his personal car now, he has a couple million in vintage cars for sale so I understand that he can fix cars up that need attention without a sweat. It only sees 10 miles round trip a day now. The car is a rocket, floored my fbo 135i and wondered what happened lol- I'm going to at least stay in contact with him

Well, hey, you're the one laying hands on, and it's your check book. Sometimes a good deal really does come along, and every once in a while one of them is something good for you....

Gotta say, to my ear you're making the right sounds. If you can get the price to something that YOU are comfortable with, and you're toy shopping, then what the hell, go for it

My friend has a RS6. Its an unreliable model within an unreliable brand. You can easily drop 10-15 grand a year maintaining that pos. Engine has to be dropped for everything. STAY AWAY. You have been warned.

That being said. It's nice car.
