18" track wheels for M135/140 for 265 rears
I am looking for some 18" track wheels for my M140i.
The plan is to run 245 tyres on the front and 265 on the back. Which wheels allow this to work? Fronts I need 18 x 8-8.5" +40. (+35 may work depending on neg camber) Rears I need 18 X 9-9.5" +50 (will +45 work?) These Enkeis may fit below but what other options are available? http://enkei.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/GTC01RR.pdf http://enkei.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/rs05rr.pdf |

Nelson,
Enkei 8.5" wide ET35mm with 245/35/18 - will need a lot of negative camber to fit up front. I ran M4 LCA and H&R sport springs [-2 deg negative camber and increased track by ~ 5-6mm each side] c/w oem 397 [8" wide et 34mm] with MPSS 225/40/18 and it was tight but OK - photos below 9" wide et50mm with 265/35/18 should be OK at the back.

Why do you want wider rear tyres than front? My experience is that it causes understeer and excessive front tyre wear. The F20/F21 is better balanced with a square setup.

Car will eventually be running meth/water cooling with a lot of power.
Setting up for Time Attack style events in the future. Below is my current car. Daily driven sans aero. You make a good point re 245 all round balance. I won't really know until I play with spring rates/sway bars and determine understeer characteristics. Last edited by nelsonian101; 10-20-2016 at 04:51 AM.. |

I'd play around with compounds before going oversquare at the rear

I've been speaking with APEX Wheels customer service asking about fitting a set of ARC-8s to my M140i.
They have said that you could probably fit 265/35 R18s on their 18x9.5J ET58 ARC-8 wheel but it might need a small spacer (3-5mm) to prevent rubbing. They also offer an 18x9J ET42, but they didn't specifically mention what size tyre would be best for that wheel. Maybe this helps? I've got my heart set on the ARC-8 design so I'm afraid I haven't done a huge amount of research into other offerings! |
