Which size euro plates (Australia)
Hi all,
We recently ordered an M135 (EB, manual, m suspension). Can't wait its our first bm, 2+ months to go!!! Have been seriously considering getting the euro plates. There are 2 sizes a standard (520w x 112h) and slim (372w x 100h). My preference is the standard size but I want to make sure they are not too large for the spacing on the body. Has anyone fitted euro plates and what size did you go for? Ogi |

In Europe, the plate size is the same as the standard size in Australia - 520w x 112h. There's no such thing as mini Euro plates in Europe, and in my opinion, they look silly.
Plenty of room for the larger size, considering the cars are European and therefore designed with these plates in mind. Check out pics of mine here, with the full size plates fitted.

Thanks for the info. My preference is the standard plate but just wanted to make sure they were a good fit on the car.
Cozza did the dealer fit your plates? In the photos they almost look photoshopped on. I can't see how they are fixed to he car. Also it looks like there is no dealer frame around them like they fit standard plates on. Was this at your request or is this how the euro plates are fitted? I really like how clean and neat they look. |

Our British plates hang over the top of the air intake on the M Sport front bumper, looks a bit odd when you think about it.
I just don't think about it. |

Admittedly, mine is 7 characters, but I really don't like on the front, the big Euro plate that's been adopted as a standard size here in Australia. Thank goodness there's a slimline option here in the ACT. There's also a pricing anomaly: my plate is called an "out of sequence" plate, but if I'd ordered it a non-Euro style, it would have been priced as a full custom plate, and cost $800 more. I decided not to argue

Just a quick question on plates. Im getting personal plates for my wife and I was looking at 4 or 5 letter/num combos. Preferably 4. I'm thinking the rear plate would show the factory holes. Anyone have slimline 4 or 5 letter/num combo? Can you share a pic if possible or let me know if the factory screw holes would show on either. I think the 4 would definately but not sure on 5 letter/number combo

Screws through the licence plates? In Norway (and probably most of Europe), they don't do that anymore. The plastic licence plate holders are screwed to the car, and the licence plate itself is clipped into the holder with some plastic tabs around the edge. No visible screw holes.

Spree that is what I wanted to see, thanks. She chose black so wanted black plates. But I was opting for 4 characters so its slightly shorter too. Looks like they opt for an easy installation. I dont like the fact they drill through the plate though

If you want to avoid something ugly, try Lakin plate brackets and frames
