Cool First Look at F20 1-series Interior

BIMMERPOST NEWS
First Look at F20 1-series Interior

COMMENTS

We bring you the first photos of the the F20 1-series interior on a 135i. The center console is clearly seen. Compared to the current 1-series, the console appears to be more driver oriented, the screen remains a hide-away version, and the radio controls have swapped positions with the air controls.

Recent model BMW interiors have all taken a noticeable step forward in design and quality (i.e. F10 5-series and E89 Z4), so we expect the same from the new 1-series' interior, which will debut in less than 12 months in the F20 3-door and 5-door hatchback models.

The official car show debut of the F20 1-series will be at the 2011 Frankfurt IAA in September 2011.

That steering wheel looks like it has a lot of buttons. I wonder if that's where they relocated the DTC button.

Lol, aftermarket radio? U gotta be joking. I'd rather drive this new baby than the 1 series M coupe(if its offered in manual only) or better still wait for the 2014 1M.

I'm wondering if that's just do to the fact it doesn't have production trim yet, could just be black plastic as a place holder with the production aircon and radio mounted just so they're functional.

I like the return of the cold/warm air adjuster for the center vents, that's something I miss on the E82.

the only thing BMW has to get rid of is the pop up display like that of a C class. I cant stand that design. I'd rather have the two swollen breasts on my dashboard, it looks so much better!

But she's looking good. thats an interesting coke bottle on the drivers seat, ive never seen one like that.... What capacity is it? id hope its a 1L..... but it does smaller..... experts?

The F20 looks promising. I'm pretty sure the next gen 1 series coupe will be out before the 1M. I'm not sure if I should get the 1M or wait for the next gen 135i now...

There is absolutely no way. They're unveiling the F20 in September in 1 year. Sales normally commence 3-4months after the unveiling. We're looking at at least a year between the 1M and the next gen 1 coupe being on sale.

Im sure even more,
we are looking here at the hatchback version no the coupe so say 1M comes out early 2011, f20 comes out (sales) early 2012 and than probably another year for a new coupe based on f20 and THAN the new 1M, so I reckon that will be late 2013 or likely iaa 2013
My thought

4-piston brembos on the front?
Cold/Warm adjust on center ducts, why did BMW skip E82?
Front hood line buldge will make it ugly for sure.

I agree with you 100% but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Scott said the next gen coupe would be coming out first

If this is the 'new' interior, then it's a step backwards to anything considered "progression". The dash looks like a 90's VW, wait, no not even that interesting.

If the LCD screen is standard the I can accept the minimalist design as the screen will show everything a driver needs. But, if that's a $2400 optional NAV in order to get some read out, then it's a FAIL.

For the kind of money we current 1 owners are spending, BMW can move the content up and upmarket. Looking like a much lower costing VW doesn't make me feel good about spending $40K+. I want to see and experience something in the cabin where we spend all of our time while driving.
