cruise control not interrupting with clutch
My cruise control does not interrupt i.e. the marker go orange, when i depress the clutch. it does with the brake, but if i change gear it will stay green and idle the engine whilst the clutch is down, only to attempt to bring the vehicle up to target speed when a different gear (or the same one) is engaged.
is this normal? no other car with cruise I have had in the past has done this. Nearly caused me to go into the back of someone the other day when i unexpectedly started accelerating (dont get me wrong it was my fault for not noticing the green marker on the speedo - im not blaming the car!). I believe the manual (at least hte PDF one on this site) states that the clutch interrupts the cruise so if the manual is correct then I guess my car is faulty - weird that it doesnt rev hte engine when clutch is depressed though if it is faulty. |

I love that. Like when going 110km/h with the cruisecontrol then come to a standstill due to roadwork or something, then hit resume on 1st/2nd gear and have the car accelerating to 110kn/h again going through all gears without touching the accelerator. Funny feeling like the car is "driving itself" and i only have to handle gearchange. Havent experienced this in any other car. Usually cruisecontrol is disengaged when pressing down the clutch indeed. Could be scary/dangerous if one is not aware of this and expect the cruise to disengage on a downshift, i can certainly appreciate that.

I also had a few scary moments because of this
I'm used to it now, but still not too fond of it. What is it that some of you like about this feature?

If you want to rest your right foot, you can control the speed of the car with the cruise control. When going between 50 and 90 km/h, it makes sense to use different gears. Also at constant speed going uphill and downhill, you will want to use different gears. Now I can shift up and down without having to enable the cruise control again every time.

Anyone got Active Cruise control? Stop N Go function is a hoot in normal traffic and will stop car down to 0 maintaining set distance from car in front.

This was possible in my old A3. Presumed it was a standard cruise control feature.

This is indeed normal behavior. I believe I recall if you depress the clutch long enough it will disable the cruise control, but it is indeed for easy shifting while using cruise control.
I have an automatic myself and I just love being able to go from 30km/h to 140km/h just by clicking the steering wheel, it shifts and accelerates fully automatic |
