I have found the website link for TMC.
http://www.tmcmotorsport.com This sounds almost to good to be true. TMC box is £300 So why it why does AC and Hartger charge over £1500 for the equivalent box? Any thoughts? D |

Not sure if i would put a 300$ box in my car though... it cant be half decent. And without measurement on some dynobench its hard to tell if the curve is any good.

However, I spoke to them yesterday and they are so confident in the product that they offer a 30 day money back satisfaction thing. Still not sure about it, but if you such around the Internet they seem very popular with the Fiat 500 lot and cars running the VAG 1.4TFSI. D |

they are actually more or less the same thing
basically the way it works is that the Turbo is always generating too much boost so there is a sensor that opens the valve to release the pressure the piggy is there to trick the sensor so that the valve does not open so quickly, and therefore the boost maintains higher how much does it cost to produce such a unit? probably not much why does AC and Hartge ask for so much more? well is there anything with their badges on that are not overpriced? I know at least a dozen people with these kind of boxes, they are in fact quite safe I believe the only potential problem would be when using the max output (you can dial from 0 to 9), the oil temp becomes so high you probably want to add an oil cooler, and probably a better charge tube this is not some kind of new technology so its relatively safe and its the best investment in any car modification I have done ever |

The AC Schnitzer upgrade comes from a company with 25 years experience of racing and tuning exclusively BMWs and includes our own 2 year warranty (extendable to 3 years) on the engine/drivetrain to ensure that you are covered in the event of a problem. Where are TMC going to be when you have an engine problem?

You think the ECU doesn't record boost pressure?

To AC UK,
Yes, I am sure that the ECU records a lot of technical telemetry from the engine and what ever system a person chooses is bound to have some point recorded in the ECU if an engineer really takes a close look. The thing is that while I am sure the AC system is very good it is also the most expensive at nearly £2000 for my car. I appreciate the warranty that comes with it but your nearest market competitor is nearly £500 cheaper and offers the same engine warranty and similar power and torque gains. Without wanting to sound arrogant or obnoxious, why is the AC solution so much more? D |

Not exactly....at least the Hartge box I have tried does a lot more than just increasing the boost pressure. There are connectors for Air-Flow mass sensors, fuel pressure sensors, camshaft sensors etc (5 sensors) in order to monitor an array of parameters and also make sure that everything is working within safe limits. If the tunning box detects any problem with the tunning, it dissables it. I am sure the AC unit works in a similar way.

It should be available now. Have you checked with your importer in the last week?
