Same in here. My letter is already over a year old if not more. I just called yesterday BMW Canada for a follow up and they don't know nothing.
Any ETA for parts, 2 months, 8 months another 3 years? They know NOTHING!

How is that for a customer care?
My dealership they've slowly been getting the parts in.

Next time you hear somebody talk about 'tort reform' think about this stuff - if they cap the max personal liability (even at something more reasonable than the ridiculously low $$ being suggested) then it only encourages this type of immoral cost-benefit decision because they know exactly how much they can be hit for. Now they at least have some fear that a vindictive jury will actually make them hurt. Tort law isn't just about asshats suing b/c they burned themselves on their coffee, it is the last line of defense that the public has against negligence and mistreatment.

OK, so some 16 poor souls all around the world died due to a defective airbag (RIP), but how many actually got their life saved because of an airbag? Probably in the millions.

In no way do I condone the actions of Takata. Their actions are inacceptable, but from a probability standpoint, I still rather have an active airbag in my car, even if it has the very low risk of causing an injury when deploying.
U obviously didnt get the point

Man, this is what scares me of buying my dream M car (E46 or E92) in the future. I don't want my engine to RIP out of nowhere.

Exactly!!! Not wearing seal belts and vehicle age also contributed to the minuscule death total. I hate anyone died and cover ups are never good. But you can't expect any product with an explosive charge to last forever.

Of course they were aware of this flaw. But, they sell cars, don't they? I received my letter for airbag replacement a year ago and still, it's on back order. Airbags are stupid, IMO.

Your other option is to get 100% refund of the purchase price and you get to keep the car.

SHAME ON BMW FOR MAKING ME WAIT 2+ YEARS FOR AN AIRBAG REPLACEMENT IN MY 2013 x1.

IF BMW CARED ABOUT SAFETY, not one more new car would roll off the assembly line until every recalled airbag over 2 years is fixed.

This is ludicrous.

In the end, leaving emotions aside, it's all about the cash.
