Nice edit. I wanted to edit my video from my last track day in this fashion. (Had a 3 camera setup) but the stupid external mic adaptor didn't work and have wind noise. No point in making video

Where is your foot cam GoPro placement. I notice it would get in the way when I would heel toe sometime

And it's nice but frustrating to be behind one of these supercars. I've been stuck behind a 918 before and didn't let me pass until the end. Lol.

Wow 1spirit! Thanks for sharing!
If and when I do my first Sonoma Raceway track day, I'll try to copy your line.
(Not necessarily try to keep up with you if you're actually there though.)

The McLaren driver looked to be out of his comfort zone...early braking, poor racing lines, not letting a quicker driver pass, etc. Nice driving on your part though

Pretty classic example of the senselessness of comparing car lap times I see here regularly. Unless you've developed great track skills, all the horsepower/suspension/tire combinations in the world won't make you any quicker.

Having driven the 675LT (one of those pay for 3 laps kind of thing) I would understand why that driver is braking earlier. The car is an absolute joy to drive, however, it's also scary as hell as the amount of power it puts down gets you from 0-fast very quickly.

It's easy to say looking at people drive it on the track, but once you actually sit in the thing, it's a rocketship and it just takes off. I'm sure in the hands of someone who's used to 500+HP, it'll be easy.
Yeah that thing is a spaceship! The power is incredible.

Glad yours seems to be working out for you! Nice footwork! At least the McLaren can say that nobody was able to pass him.
Thank you! I’ve come across some of your old helpful threads in the 135i. Oil temperatures routinely reach close to 290* on the track, but with the stock tune my 135i has been OK so far. I do notice the occasional slight power drop at full throttle during hotter days. I run 100% distilled water for coolant with 2 bottles of Redline Water Wetter and Motul X-cess 5W/40 for engine oil. Car feels happier since using them about a year ago.

Reliability is still a concern of mine so I will be upgrading the radiator and adding the additional water cooler from the 1M/335is. From what I understand, keeping water temperatures cool is more important than controlling oil temperatures to avoid limp mode in this car.

It could be that I lucked out and got a specially robust 135i… It has treated me supremely well so far - I greatly thank BMW for that! You have a valid point about the McLaren

I realize this is probably a stupid question to all the real track rats but that is Laguna Seca (backwards) right?
Wow that means a lot. Thank you.

Not a stupid question at all - I wish Laguna was offered backwards or clockwise! It's Sonoma Raceway, formerly known as Sears Point or Infineon.

Agree it's slightly misleading as the mclaren wasn' totally holding up 1spirit all over the place... but it sure looks like the driver pitted early - probably to cool his brakes !

This happened to be but in reverse order. I was way faster on the straights, but couldn't even get close to the cornering speeds of this car. I let him pass and he stayed in front of me (was the nicer thing to do) and I had to go slow on straights and play catchup in the corners.

Still fun, great driving, and cool story to tell nonetheless!
