Picked up my new car this first thing this morning

Handover was all on time and the sales guy provided a very thorough demonstration. So many buttons and gadgets to run though, it felt more like a pre-flight check in a jumbo-jet.

No freebies from the dealer on handover which was a little disappointing. However, I’ve been extremely happy with the service they have provided from time of order right through to collection so no real complaints.

So on to the car then….. I’ve only had a brief drive straight from the dealership to work. However I felt completely at home in the car. The seats are so comfortable and I absolutely love the standard m sport Hexagon cloth/Alcantara upholstery, Anthracite interior. The upholstery seems to soften the overall feel of the cabin and provide a touch more sportiness. Pleased therefore I didn’t spec leather and spent the money on other options.

The iDrive seems easy enough to use and the HK sounds great but I need to have good play around with the settings.

The m-sport brakes finish the car off nicely especially with the estoril blue bodywork. I drove the car in comfort mode and ride in to work was fantastic. There are a few roads I go down neater work with speed bumps and the ride over the bumps was near perfect (My dad had a previous generation 1 series m sport some years ago and the same journey was backbreaking at times).

Being a good boy I shall be running the car in. However, just driving in comfort mode this morning and putting my foot down up to 4.5k rev’s I can immediately tell that the 125i is going to provide excellent performance. The auto feels seamless through the gears so very pleased with this option also.

Anyway folks that’s all I can really report on at the moment. Overall so pleased with the car and I feel very humbled and lucky to be an owner of one.

Here a few pictures from collection. Sorry, not the best of pictures as it was a horrible wet and foggy morning. My camera skills are not that great either.

Thanks for reading
Martin

Day 3 of ownership and I'm over the moon with my 125i.

This is the first rear wheel drive car I've owned and I can't see me ever going back to a front wheel drive car again. The weight balance of the car and road holding feels so much better than my old mk6 gti.

The 125i engine is fantastic. Again it feels much quicker than the gti and you don't get that horrible torque steer. The car feels like a real licence looser so I shall have to keep my wits about me and drive it sensibly within reason.

I was expecting the car exhaust noise to disappoint after reading some of the magazine reviews, however it’s much more audible than I expected. So I'm in no immediate rush to upgrade to the m performance exhaust.

I must admit to a wobble with regard to should I have gone for M135i as opposed to a highly spec’d 125i for the same kind of money. Especially seeing as so quite a few guys on here have gone for the 135’s as undoubtedly they are fantastic cars. However, now I’ve got my hands on my 125i I’m more than happy with my car choice. When looking for a new car I wanted improved performance and refinement over the gti with an economy no worse. Well the 125i has certainly delivered for me on all these counts.

Dislikes so far is the steering wheel obstructing the view of either the bottom of the black panel display or the top of the dials which ever way you adjust it.

I have seen others also complain about the obstruction, and I have to see if I will find it a problem too. I got a call from the dealer this week. My car was supposed to arrive in the middle of desember, but it had already arrived.

I had to stop and have a look even if the car was not finnished for delivery. It looked nice, and I was impressed with the m-sport brakes. The size of the discs was bigger than I expected. Also the enigne sound was good as I'm used to a diesel.

Of course one should have had a M135i, but with the crazy car prices here in Norway a 125i have to do it. I just cheked, and in the UK you can buy a new 911 for the same amount as my car with packages! Now it's vacation for 14d, and for the first time I will be happy to return home. Not every time a nice new car is waiting.

I have to see if I will see it a issue too. I got a contact from the supplier this weeks time. My car was expected to arrive at the end of September, but it had already came.

Done 2500 miles in mine now and really loving the car. Had a couple of drives out in the county recently and the car really does come into its own on the twisty roads. The car feels perfectly balanced and the m sport brakes are phenomenal. I can't wait for the summer months when the car can be safely driven even harder and enjoyed further.

Yes there is a slight M135i itch to scratch but this rarely bothers me as overall I'm more than satisfied with the speed and performance of the 125i engine. Exhaust sound bothers me so I'd like to upgrade to the m p exhaust at some point.

Had my first mod carried out the other day which was to have the m p kidney grilles fitted as pictures below.

I would also like to get black gloss wing mirror covers fitted to compliment the kidney grilles. You can buy a set of wing mirror covers which come primed from the BMW dealership for about £40 over here. I will get some of these painted and fitted on the car and keep the old colour coded set.
