Any chiptuning for 116i that improves 0-100 acceleration to approx. 118i performance?

Hi all...
I'm struggling with finding a good chiptuning solution for my 116i, ie. one that will give me aprox. the same 0-100 specs as for the 118i...Can anyone help me?, -any suggestions?

Kellener Sports tuningbox seems to have got quicker acceleration otherwise installing a throttle control device will definitely help.

Can you tell more about that throttle control device? What is such a device doing?

Sport+ is only available for the 116i in Sport line or M-Sport edition. You do however get the same drive mode by selecting "Sport" and then one click on the DTC button.

Throttle control as in sprint booster or pivot. It amplified the signal of an e-throttle thus making the car response faster to the pedal.

The throttle response in Sport mode is pretty much on/off anyway, so I don't think there is more to gain there. During a 0-100 run with a 116i, the throttle is fully open 95 percent of the time with a manual gearbox, and 100 percent with an automatic.

-What I'm looking for is quite simple:

-a well-known manufacturer who has a real product with pricing and real field-proven specs
-tuning kit with controller box plus required wiring giving me approx. 170HP/PS
-a simple installation manual, with simple installation that can be done in less than 1 hour
-a tuning result, that will give me 0-100 specs close to the 118i performance
-motor warranty would be great also

-It seems to be much more difficult that I have ever emagined...I should have bought the 118i from the very beginning....

Have you checked if the real world performance of the 116i and 118i are similar to the specified figures from BMW? That is not always the case. Sometimes the difference between two models is exaggerated by the marketing department to justify the extra cost.

The 116i is supposed to have 136 hp at the flywheel. Mine is not modified, and perhaps not even completely broken in, and a dyno run revealed 139 rear wheel horsepower. We can only guess how much there is on the flywheel, but the difference up to 170 is not all that big...

Following your reasoning, the 118i 170bhp will likewise output a greater power. Actually, 183bhp according to some tests.

By the way, has anyone tried to identify the difference in acceleration with the DTC on and off? I have tried but I can't see any significant difference? Whats your opinion and experience on that?

I think you get the quickest launch with a 116i by switching DSC completely off. Then a virtual differential brake feature is enabled, braking the wheel that is spinning the most. Rev up to get the turbo charging, and dump the clutch with some wheelspin.

I have also noticed that you lose time by running the engine all the way to the rev limiter. There seems to be no point in revving past 6000 RPM, as the power is higher in next gear by then.

For cars with automatic transmission, things might be different.

The Hartge tuning box does all the things you want. Acceleration is on par with the 118i.

In paper yes. In real life, the only tests availabe (and the ones I have done myself) are not from standstill but in gear acceleration. According to the Hartge video, the 60-180km/h acceleration of the tuned 116i is the same (a tad faster) as the non-tuned 118i.

ok, so if I understand you correct, with the hartge tuning I will get a noticeable difference in acceleration from approx. 60 km/t and upwards?

Thats about right! Actually the most noticeable difference is above 100 km/h and at lower speeds with higher gear.
