Driving modes

My M135i has adaptive suspension and variable sport steering.

1. Can anyone tell which combination of driving modes provides the following result:

softer suspension - lighter steering - sharper throttle

2. Also does the exhaust sound change depending on the mode?

Afaik sharper throttle automatically goes against the other settings being softer so if you want that you have to accept stiffer ride and heavier steering.

Not entirely correct, cause you can configure Sport mode to drivetrain only. Iīm not sure how that setting applies to the steering though.

Well if you have found that within the menus, any other configurable options would be in the same nested menu area. If there is nothing independant for steering and suspention then it's probably not possible without recoding.

As to #2, have you not tried and listened for an exhaust note change to answer that question?

Chassis controls suspension and steering. Drivetrain controls exhaust, throttle map and, in autos, transmission. The exhaust is mildly more tuneful in Sport and up. So yes, you can configure that with iDrive in Sport mode so that is your default setting when in that mode - Comfort Chassis with Sport Drivetrain.

As to why you'd be mad enough to want to drive it like that....

Thanks for the reply, johhnydad.

I was wondering, whatīs the difference between M/S mode on the shifter and Sport mode on the console button?

Does M/S also make the steering heavier?

I can't help OP, but I believe that by selecting DSC=off you get the following combination

Sport plus steering + comfort everything else (not exactly true - see below)

Remember that DSC=off is a mode in itself, and cannot be combined with eco pro/comfort/sport or sport plus. But it can of course be combined with the D/S/M-gearbox modes.

Incorrect.

DSC Off gives Comfort throttle, Sport chassis/steering, more exhaust noise and activates the fake e-diff effect.

It noticeably reduces scrabbling of the inside rear and makes the breakaway point of the rear axle both later and more progressive than in Sport+. The only downside is that you have no stability control as back-up.

Are you absolutely sure that the steering is similar to sport and not sport plus with DSC=off? In a Z4 the steering is not the same in sport and sport plus.

I haven't tried the M adaptive suspension, but I know from the Z4 that DSC=off gives comfort suspension if it is equipped with the M adaptive suspension (which doesn't make sense anyway).

I agree that DSC=off activates the e-diff, and I wouldn't call it fake, I would call it NICE (i like drifting). Therefore I also wouldn't say it is a downside not to have stability control.
