Retrofits i'd like on my F20
I've been through pretty much the entire directory of parts- and the two parts which are not stupidly expensive and i'd like are:
What do you guys think? |

from what other people have said on other models, yes- totally yes! it changes the front mid paper cones to aluminum, and better quality mids- adds tweeters. then adds an amp which powers the mids and tweeters. then the re-code disables the head unit equalization, which is left up to the amp- making it a hifi system.
much better sounding from what i hear- £370 isnt bad for this system. if you are happy to fit it yourself (alot of work, involving removing rear seats). 2 hours work from a stealer- which = £200 + recoding |

Worth splashing out for the Harmon Kardon at the outset - only £580. Lots more speakers etc.

i guess if you got the parts you could do it- but i doubt you could code it... best think you could do is get the stealer to code your system for hifhi, then put your own multichannel amp in the boot and installer the extra speakers yourself

Hah, the problem is all the cutting away of trim all those extra speakers would require. Not really something I'd like to do...

i'm sure you can buy the parts from bmw... plus you dont really need the rear tweeters- spend the extra money on better mids / subs and amps

mhh..i don't like the idea with the hifi....ALWAYS keep the volumen down at a reasonable level!...-you still need to be able here the sirene from the police car behind you, chasing you for speeding

I usually see them long before I hear them. Ah, these are the times you wish you had the James Bond 1er version with the reversable number plate or the Green Hornet's cloaking paintwork. |

if you can still change- find a way to get HK- you wont regret it- i regret not adding it! that at the visibility package- however, i dont feel so bad about forking out 1200 for that.

The problem with BMWs is it tempting to go 'Burger with the lot thanks' when looking at all the nice 'extras', (many included as standard on some lesser brands) then you see the numbers the dealer has written down on the pad and you say 'I want the price, not the dealership's phone number please.
Once you have realised that it was the price he wrote down, you have to think to yourself 'what can I live without'. This, just after the salesman has told you about all these wonderful things that makes your 'special'. Love the car you have for the driving, and then if possible add the personal 'happy' items as you can afford them. Alpine upgrade, HK or whatever. You will more than likely just get use to the sound system and not realy miss the goodies until the next time that new shiny model tempts you. |
