It's funny to see the lack of business sense in so many people (not you, the buyer). You did the right thing. Except replying - I would have totally ignored the dude.

The icing on the cake is how he was all "I would have sent you payment through this and that in email, you made a mistake" when the guy who actually bought them paid cash.

These are trick questions/responses as the amount they are willing to pay hovers around 0 to 25% of your actual selling price.

In your case, don't sweat it. Too bad he did not act on it quick and there was no written contract.

Had the same situation happen to me where the guy was like "Contact me this weekend." Then when I did waited and contacted him he sold the item during the week.
