M140i exhaust rattle noise
Hi guys,
last friday I went to pick up my car, and until now I've 500kms on. The car this morning, during the first cold start, started to make a rattle noise from the left pipe. I read that some M140/M240 owners has the same problem. I'm gonna get informed about this problem with the dealer, but if anyone of had it and was able to fix it, could tell me what I have to do to delete this awful noise? To make you understand what it is, see this video of another M140i, that shows perfectly the problem. Thanks. |

Yeah. that's true. Unitl now, it made it just three/foru times, both on cold start and one with the engine end exhaust already hot. As it happens few times, I decided to pass through the problem.

Hey, i saw your post and I have the same noise. If you get a copy of the B58 engine service manual, it states in there that this rattling is normal, and us due to the exhaust flap moving in to a position that helps preheat the catalytic converter quickly. Bit of a crappie noise though in my opinion, but agreed it doesn't last long.
The B58 manual is freely available by searching the internet, or I believe its on this forum too 😊 |
