It's not so much of a secret if you bother to look in the instruction manual

Haha, guess so! Didnt expect one to be here tho, its soo close to the centre console mounted one, and if you have a clumsy passenger; i guess it could easily get damaged! Re: the first post, does anyone have a use for this one? Would have preferred one in the back or boot as standard i guess... unless they are there and im blind, haha!

I have them in the back and boot, but I think they are part of an optional package.

All of them are optional except for the one in the middle. I got the extra one under the glove box (since it was priced at 100 SEK/~$15, which is just silly), but not the ones in the back and the boot.

I find it ridiculous that this is another 'option' on that 100+ item Option list
Come on BMW, include all the basic stuff in the basic price
instead of the current system of-
See the car; see the base price; test drive; like the car; then get told that none of the things you liked in the demo are included as standard; then have to pay thousands more for extras that other manufacturers include.
BMW you should be listening to your 'unhappy' buyers

You're obviously fairly new to the brand saying something like that.

It wasn't that long ago that the cars were nothing but a shell and everything was an option . They are positively palatial these days in standard form.

I thought the extra 12V was in the boot. I already get this as part of the 'storage package' so I skipped this cheap option I thought was a waste. It would have been just about perfect for powering my dashboard camera. Fml...

So is this definitely an option? As my car is complete stock m-sport, no extras as it was factory ordered due to the colour; mebe BMW include it on this trim?

According to BMW 1 series catalogue (the one that I downloaded from BMW.co.uk) two 12V sockets (namely, "12V power socket in centre console" and "12V power socket in passenger footwell") are standard from 114i ES/116i ES. It's on page 46 if that helps.

Which items are standard or options varies quite a lot from market to market.

I just asked my dealer if he could try to change my order to add this outlet. He changed the order without problems, which is good...in a sense. It's great that I get the extra 12V outlet, but it's not so great that my order is still open exactly 8 weeks after I placed my order...

Discovered the one under the dash by accident while looking through the manual.

Looking though my 118d sport I have 4 in total one on center console, one under glove box, one in the back below the vents and one in the boot.

Now I have the interior comfort package so maybe that is where some of the extra ones come from.

Maybe I should actually read the manual and see if there are any other features I'm missing

I think they forgot to install mine. There is just a hole under the glove box, but I have the 3 other ones.
