A few random people don't count. They had touring models here and they did not sell well.
Of course they are not volume seller compare to the X3 but have you look at the pricing. In Europe the X3 is several thousand euros more than the Touring it is the opposite in here. Now something I would like to see is the sale % of Touring versus the sedan for the E46, E90/E91, and the F30/F31. I'm not sure them sell much less in %. The 1 serie hatchback could fight the golf if pricing accordingly. Finally none of that
low sales matter if the company is listening to their customer(I'm talking about the existing one not the one they want to attract) money
should be an issue.

Your marketing departement never taught that the 1M was going to sell more than 2700 units or that the E30 M3 was going to be a hit. I don't think Bmw is listening at their customers at all. So now that the company is filling every void space i guess a pick up would make sense why not Mercedes since is doing one.
Actually a crossover with the ability to offer more flexibility and carry in upwards of 7 passengers but acceptable to the compact segment was very much demanded. It just was not compatible with RWD platforms in order to be competitive.

We gave Touring models their chance and they like everybody else have been outsold by equivalent SUVs. Which is what the market demands.

The 1M was launched in the second half of the Life cycle of the 1er Coupe. Its existence is due to BMW using the 1er as the precursor to the i3 namely the Active E.

A pick up does not make sense for BMW it does not fit within the brands philosophy and the market will be next to nothing. Mercedes on the other hand has a commercial division it make sense because that is where it will be positioned and sell most Not as a luxury model.

unsurprising, as the company seems to have its tentacles everywhere....except the performance segment!

.... expect the BMW minivan, BMW 4x4, BMW Motorhome, BMW Segway, BMW iNext Razor....

Awful idea. And that's from a person who's owned a lot of pickups (and BMWs) and bought a pickup as recently as last year.

If BMW had a pickup on offer when I bought the Canyon, I would have passed and bought American.

No fucking way.

Google it!
I was pretty sure the F150 was the top seller too. So, I googled it and it is.

Trucks sell big here in the US and can be pricy with all of the luxury options added. If they had extra volume at the plant in the US it could be a way to make a made in America BMW truck.

Doubt it would happen unless they essentially rebadged a Toyota. It isn't the craziest idea in the world and a lot of untapped volume exists. It would probably just shift too much time and money away from the I and FWD devisions though...can't have that happening.
I said car not truck

I thought the pickup was a April fools joke a while back? Anyway, it's a little better than these awful SUVs (speaking in general, as a vehicle segment)

I may be wrong but, I don't think the Camry, Accord, Civic, etc. on the list are pickups so it appears to me it's the sales breakdown REGARDLESS of what "type" of vehicle it is. I guess it's just a matter of semantics.

Moving on...

Check back in 5 years.

Tesla might own the truck market except for maybe Texas.

Further evidence that BMW has at the very least lost their relevance amongst driving enthusiasts.

The current product portfolio is a like a "Top List" of Detroit's Big 3 idiotic fumbles from the bad old 70s and 80s, that made Detroit the embarrassment of the automotive universe during the era. Must suck to be a German engineer today, other than at Porsche. At the same time Detroit builds remarkable cars today, like 700hp Chargers (not necessarily my style), Z06s and Ford GTs that crush the Germans and play with Ferraris, and Z28s and GT350Rs for Everyman and woman. At two thirds the price of a BMW pickup truck.

Still in denial? The pipeline includes FWD, RFTs, all electric, sporty SUVs, basically any moving vehicle with as much interest for a driver as an old Buick. I expect the AWESOME M PERFORMANCE PICKUP may even be released with a cool chicken decal on the hood like the old Pontiac Trans Ams and current 2016 M Performance parts catalog.

I doubt the Big 3 are worrying too much. That's just their attitude. People said the same thing when imports were and still are pouring in (Japanaese and German). The Big 3 are still standing tall and don't give too much shit although I agree they should be worrying but they won't.

I wonder if BMW would have to manufacture them in the US because of the Chicken Tax?
