If BMW offers a pickup with xDrive with lockers, sign me up. A Diesel option would be icing on the cake

Also, was hoping to see some photoshops in this thread but I'm disappointed by the lack thereof

I want to convert my car into a pickup truck actually. I would definitely buy a small sized BMW pickup like other manufacturers used to sell 20 years ago. I hate how all the trucks are getting so massive now.

Probably make sense given that they've saturated the SUV market enough.

The American manufactures pretty much own the pickup market, so there is huge market share to steal there.

I don't see 'utes being popular enough for them to launch one of those, atleast not in NA or Europe for sure.

You haven't been in a truck lately have you? My GMC is just as nice if not nicer than my ladies Benz.

You are right. My last time when I was in a pickup truck was about 10 years ago in a crappy Tacoma. I can't imagine myself driving a truck unless I am in the contractor/construction business. Been always a car guy and I don't think this will change unless something dramatically changes in the next few decades.

That's just me though.

I personally haven't seen too many Ridgelines on the road though.
In terms of pickup truck sales in the US, the Ford F-150 is king.
It's been the top-selling pickup in the US since 1977 (39 years).
And the top-selling motor vehicle of any kind in the US since 1981 (35 years).

I don't find the Mercedes comparison to be apt here. Mercedes/Daimler also own half a dozen truck and heavy duty vehicle companies.

A BMW pickup truck would really signal the end of the brand. People have driven luxury SUVs for a while, but NO ONE drives a luxury pickup truck. If you were in your M4 and you saw someone in a BMW pickup truck at the red light next to you, how would that feel? I'd absolutely be questioning the brand, might even sell the car! The fact that it's being considered makes me cringe....

It is not justifiable for one market because sales would be minimal.
And besides if to follow the Mercedes route then it would be UKL+ in other words FWD based.
So no it is not going to happen and besides our customers have no interest in such a concept.

I was pretty sure the F150 was the top seller too. So, I googled it and it is.

Trucks sell big here in the US and can be pricy with all of the luxury options added. If they had extra volume at the plant in the US it could be a way to make a made in America BMW truck.

Doubt it would happen unless they essentially rebadged a Toyota. It isn't the craziest idea in the world and a lot of untapped volume exists. It would probably just shift too much time and money away from the I and FWD devisions though...can't have that happening.

Your customers never had interest in Fwd car or a minivan but you made one. Your customers never ask for an X2,X4 or X6 but you made them. Your loyal customers ask for Touring models and rwd 1 serie hatchback but you don't listen. Your marketing departement never taught that the 1M was going to sell more than 2700 units or that the E30 M3 was going to be a hit. I don't think Bmw is listening at their customers at all. So now that the company is filling every void space i guess a pick up would make sense why not Mercedes since is doing one.

A few random people don't count. They had touring models here and they did not sell well.
