How do you like your fenders? Extra hot

My fenders are always hotter than the hood, even up to 2-3 hours after I park the car (in the garage).

I never noticed this on any of my previous cars and not having a temp gauge is making me paranoid.

Just wanted to check if this is the norm for an M135i... thanks

The fenders of my 118i are also hotter than the hood.
My best guess is that the hood liner and heat shield (mounted above the turbo)
are reflecting the hot air to the side fenders.

Thanks for the feedback; that makes sense. I ran diagnostics and all came back fine....the fenders get so hot that you really can't press/hold your hand on them for more than a few seconds, I guess I'm just paranoid

Did your previous cars have daylight running lights?
I find the halos on mine give off quite a bit of heat making the front wings quite hot to the touch.

My DRLs are disabled, I washed/cleaned the car (in and out) today. it was parked outside for two hours and they were still hot, I've never seen anything like this, my '06 GTI had a fan that would kick in after I shut the car off, do our cars have that feature?

Are they a lot hotter than the rest of the bodywork?
The fan that cuts in after being stopped is usually the radiator fan and it would do nothing to cool the wings.

It's illegal in the UK to disable the DRL's so I can't do a comparison I'm afraid.

Yes... So hot that I'm waiting on the paint to bubble. I tried pressing and holding my hand for 5-10 seconds on the front of the fender (near the lights) and I couldn't.

I called the Sercive department and they didn't seem to think much of it; they told me that BMW has "many mechanisms" built in to prevent heat from damaging the engine

Maybe the disabled DRL's aren't totally disabled and the associated electronics is still powered to prevent error codes. If these components are in the wings and getting hot then that could be your problem and getting as hot as you say does not sound right to me.
