Stop start & Entertainment handbook

Good evening all
My F21 125i auto arrived on Saturday and it is as good as I had hoped apart from Stop/Start, in a long motorway tailback today it drove me mad! Has anybody had it disabled?
My real query is trying to figure out what bits of handbook for entertainment I have on the car with basic non nav and HK hi fi?
Does the in-car hard disc come as standard? how do I access it?
I have followed instructions for USB playlist but some tracks are not recognised?
Can I get the screen to show anything but idrive menu?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Pics of car to follow soon.

Why didn't you simply switch it off with the button right next to the start button?

Well unless you added something other than H/K, your "entertainment" would be limited to sitting and driving.

Same gearbox as used on the F20/21 which in the past has been the difference between being able to disable the function or not.

Bob, I'm still not sure of the relevance of the X1, even where fitted with the same gearbox. The OP is speaking about the F20/21, which has always had the stop/start disable button with the ZF-8AT.

Is there a way to full disable auto stop/start function ? I always turn it off as soon as I start the car , but would be great to permanently turn it off

Yes, it is possible to code it to be default off when you start the car. The BMW dealer can do this if they are allowed to by the local government (which they are not in Norway). With some dedicated equipment and knowledge from internet, it is also possible to do at home.

But users in the past have also complained that the Auto's have been stuck with having to have the ASS (How's that for an abbreviation ) enabled. So begs the question, has the ZF-8AT transmission always been fitted in the F20/21 (Maybe only the case in your country) and why the OP is asking as the button is quite hard to miss.

I explained the relevance of the X1 but it's not important as the OP has not replied since starting the thread . . .

F20/21 owners? I've certainly seen complaints about the ASS annoyance, but no mention of the button missing. The F20 owners manual, downloadable via the sticky thread, was uploaded in July 2012 (it's obviously older) and certainly mentions the ASS disable button. AFAIK, the ZF-8AT has always been fitted to the F20/21, all variants, all countries, and the ASS disable button included with all.

I can see the ASS button catching on I have seen auto owners in the past bemoaning an inability to disable the ASS maybe not in this small corner of the web. I'll do some web ferreting and see what I can find and where.

The main thing being that if we all have ASS buttons then great as the ASS can be a complete pain in the ASS.

Thanks for all your comments.
I know I can switch ASS off each trip but I would prefer to reverse the system so I have to switch it on. My dealer said it could not be done in UK?
I will just enjoy the car for now!!
