Wasn't 1999 the first year with the 3-spoke steering wheel?

Also, I wish manufacturers would just stop selling beige/grey interiors. They age like bread.

early E46 M3s can now be had for low teens. No late model garage queens certainly, but it is doable. My friend just bought a clean low mileage '04 SMG for just under 14K with a clean carfax, from a dealer. At $10800, you're not that far away from a 'low teens' dollar figure, hence my comment. Check the classifieds, check NADA, check ebay, and see for yourself. I actually do know what I'm talking about.

Your opinion is biased. You own an E36 M3, and probably think it's a completely mind-blowing, amazing car. I think that's great, everyone should be proud of the car he/she drives. But that car he posted has a market value independent of whatever your feelings for the E36 M3 are.

Any way you slice it, that's not an eleven thousand dollar car. Not even close.

cheers.

don't get so butthurt. i think e46 m3> e36 m3 and also i stated i think that car is worth $6-$7k. everything i have stated about the e36 is more or less accurate. don't believe me? go on m3forum and ask away. that's where i got all my information plus other sources.

don't bring nada/kbb pricing into this. e36/e46 demand their own respective prices due to the fact that both generations are getting harder and harder to find. good for your friend, but lol to smg. to each their own, but most want a manual with the e46.

in GENERAL a clean/reliable e46 m3 will not be in that "territory". as someone else stated you might be able to find one with 150k-200k miles, but that is not what the op is looking for. this all really comes down to the person. i paid $14k for my e36. i couldn't find, to my level, that e46 for near that price. i would have had to pay in the low $20k's to get something up to my standard that is in equivalence to my e36. therefore it wasn't in my territory since i couldn't afford it. i assume a good portion of people are like this. i don't understand why you would buy a great example e36, but since it's "close" in price range to a shitty e46 you make the jump. the costs alone will rape you.

no, I don't think they are. you may have much higher standards than many people. I don't know of too many that would pay low $20's for an E46 M3 or $14K for an E36 unless it was absolutely minty, which few are anymore.

And what maintenance record does that e46 have? Has the subframe been reinforced? What about VANOS? At that mileage, what about the cooling system and bushings? This is also an SMG car which we all know goes for a cheaper price than 6MT. At the end of the day, if those things aren't taken care of, we'd be looking at high teens to get it to where I'd like my cars to be.

Those are the questions I'd wonder. A clean Carfax is just a part of what I'd look for in an M.
