How is this "fully integrated" if it comes with a "handy wireless remote control"? Isnt it controlled thru the iDrive if its fully integrated?
Or am I missing something here |

I have DAB on my F20 and in addition to the sharkfin aerial, it has another antenna on the rear windscreen to improve reception. My impression is this new DAB retrofit uses a window antenna (so they dont touch the sharkfin aerial + gives it a wider base to improve reception).
The remote is in addition to iDrive operation. On the F07 / F01 you get an extra remote for rear seat operation of the iDrive if you so wish. |

Great info!
Wish I could find someone that does this in Sweden. Regret not getting DAB so much. Got the harman/kardon option but with FM radio stations it sounds like shit. And its a pain having to always dock the iphone and start the BMW Connected App in order to listen to web radio... |

Interesting development on this subject
Contributor SunnyUK dug out this interesting press release suggesting this integrated DAB unit is a commercially available product called AutoDAB from Connect2.
http://www.getdigitalradio.com/dab-news/view/374 While advertised as £299 fully fitted by BMW dealers, it is available online from Halfords for £149 plus £30 for fitting in select Halford Centres. This takes one hour http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...Id_265865#tab1 This is for an AutoDAB unit with vehicle specific wiring harness with required connector for the I drive as well. Customer review is positive: good quality sound and operation, seamless integration, use through existing steering controls and voice prompt, but the window patch antenna on passenger side not invisible. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...Id_265865#tab3 I specked my F20 with DAB and thoroughly recommend it. But if you are a radio/music enthusiast and miss it, or have a HK/hifi upgrade, you may wish to consider this. |

I can't speak for the product itself but I had a Connect2 adapter fitted to my MkV Golf some years ago for my MP3 player and the quality was good. Oddly enough it was my local Halfords that fitted it and the fitter took his time as the Golf had quite a complex dash to take apart to pull the head unit out of. the labour charge was far more than £30 per hour - probably more like double that - and the work was carried out in the car park.
