1 Series Sedan Rendered

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Now the car is out in the open it is time some impressions started to appear and look no further.

The interesting thing here is the car in this image is in a way to describe basic and the real car has more adventurous details. Especially with more chiseled and angular looks . Stretched headlights aside a wide kidney grille and high placed rear lights that are also more stretched keeping in line with the next generation of BMW sedans.

The render is based on the Active Tourer so it has the proportions of a FWD car as illustrated by the spy photographs.

Are we looking at the same picture? & The only way to lower MPG with a cars body is by making it sportier.

Considering this is most likely targeting the growing Asian market BMW is trying to grow I think it's a good look. Doubt it'll take off in the states.

People crack me up, so critical of just a render.

I hope it is nearly identical in size to my e46 ZHP and that the x-drive is RWD biased (or can be programmed as such) and doesn't add too much weight to the FWD base car.

The prius has a lower coefficient of drag than a 2-series , 0.25 vs 0.29, yet a prius doesnt look sportier

not a bad look. it will sell well here. we are all looking for a smaller car that will replace the last body style. with the current 3 series looking super bloated, many buyers will adapt to this quickly. I know I will.

Whats the point of this post? this is a bmw forum for fans of the ultimate driving machine. This car will be far from it. Shouldnt this be at a vw forum? isnt the purpose of this car mass production for a different target than "we" are? i would get a 12 yold e46 325i before i would this. but for the sake of it, isnt the a3 a better looker (inside for sure and out) and since they have been in the fwd business a bit longer probably a better steer too? Pointless post

The prius' front to A pillar is arguably much sportier than the 2ers flat face. A sporty shell should always be accompanied by good numbers imo, the prius delivers where it matters.

I looks nice, but I don't see how a FWD BMW will be an enthusiast car. Then again, as long as enthusiast cars are available, BMW can make anything else they want.

Looks like the new Audi S3 sedan. Considering Audi has the best looking line up among all auto makers it is not a bad thing. I like it.

Best looking cars?

Audi cars are very boring and almost look like the same cars front to back.

Kill it before it lays eggs! I hope that render is WAY off (Probably is), Who this even supposed to target? People who can afford a sonata, but want something smaller and more expensive?

You could cover up the grills and tell me the rest of the car is the next Accord/Jetta/Camry/any other vanilla sedan and I would completely believe you. I know it's just a render, and I know they only care about sales targets, but I sure hope they at least attempt to make it look like a BMW with some rear 'flare'.

I don't care what you make this car look like. Without RWD it's not a BMW.

And you people who say "oh, it's pretty - I like it - should turn in your Roundels now."

+1

While looks are subjective, if people think BMW has got lazy with their designs, Audi must be in a comatose state because their cars for the longest time have looked the same. It's like all they do is keep the shape and add a small detail and voila, new model. The A3 is such a boring, dumpy looking car, makes the CLA actually look a lot better than it is.
