Going for some aftermarket rims for my new 118d M-Sport Estorill blue being delivered September.
I ordered all available options, including black dakota leather, aluminium trims and high gloss black, black M Performance grills, blackline taillights, M Performance dual exhausts, M Sport brakes, tinted windows, M sport 18" on winter tires, etc, etc...

Most probably VMR 710 19" staggered setup with deep concavity
So here's my question : which will be the better looking : MATTE BLACK OR GUNMETAL?

Please feel free to come with other options

Best Regards

100000% gunmetal. Don't ruin a good looking car with black - or even worse, flat black - wheels.

The brighter colour is always nicer in my opinion. If the wheels are dark, they should at least have some constrast stripe at the outer edge, or else they tend to look like steel rims for winter use.

THAT! Exactly what I keep saying over and over again.. so many people got new wheels and when showing them to me they kept asking "So, how do you like my new wheels?" while we were still like 20-50m away, and I just said: No clue, looks like my windersteelies from here.

Black kills contours, regardless if its on a body (thus the little black dress is so popular, it always hides (unwanted) curves!), on a car (ugly cars suddenly look "good" in black for some people) or on wheels. You go for black if you wanna hide the lines and forms. Telling a designer his *everything with contours* looks just good in black, is like hitting him in the face.

Just my 2ct.

But one contrast stripe can make all the difference.

These are not really pitch black, some anthracite/grey tone, and they got a polished bed. Whole different story. But yeah, your point is right. Its the details that make it "ok". Simple pitch black wheels is just bad.

Haha, unfortunately not here in Norway. X6 is like more than twice the price for my car

They are amazing!
When I change my Runflat tires with normal tires, I will also consider change my wheels with something like this

Gunmetal, no doubt!
I definitely understand the point of having the car loaded with options (as long as your budget allows it). Allthough the driving per se is why you choose BMW and not just any car, many of us spend a lot of time behind the wheel in urban traffic or under strict speed regulations. Then it helps spending it in a BMW loaded with goodies and toys

That's right superspeed can't wait for this car now, counting days...

Would've liked to upgrade to the M135i someday if I'm going to buy a sportscar it needs at least 300hp++

Not the worst looking, but I highly doubt the available sizes will fit without bodywork. 8,5x19 ET35 in the front (not to speak of the E15 option) and 10x19 ET38 in the back will probably be too much.

How about 19" GS Hypertrack? They should fit the F20/F21. They are not very expensive either.

I go for gunmetal wheels and all black tyres. Tyres white white walls always remind me of those old gangster movies, where the mobsters hang out of the windows of some huge limo, toting machine guns ...and the limo always has white-walled tyres!

I'm currently asking myself the same question, Matt black or gun metal/graphite....both fantastic color options!..I'm definitely quitting boring silver, or chrome rims, which has been on the market since the ice-age ;-)
