Prof. Nav quick question

Hi,
According to the F20 manual, the professional navigation software offers automatic map scale view when the screen view is set to North-orientation.
However, I haven't been able to make it work like that. I can switch map views through the iDrive, and change scale manually as well (from 50 metres to 500kms). But there doesn't seem to show automatic scale view as you drive along, it remains the same scale I selected last.
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers!

That's the way mine works as well. Which is ok!
I haven't seen anything in the manual about automatic map scale.....?

It says so in my Spanish language manual:
Navigation chapter>Map Views>Scale modification:
1. Select symbol
2. Modify scale: turn the iDrive
Automatic Scale: when in north-oriented map view, turn the iDrive in any direction until AUTO is shown on the scale display.

Let me know if you find it!!
Taken from the english manual:

Automatically Set Scale:
In the north-facing map view, turn the controller in any direction until the scale shows AUTO. The map shows the entire distance between the location and destination.

I guess it's not what we are looking for... There's no such auto adjustment of the map view depending on your speed (as in some other nav systems I've tried).

I tried it this morning, and it works just like manual says.

It works!

Works well in my car. Switch view to north oriented + turn the drive wheel right or left to the end of scale and will say auto and start to changing scale (probably depending on tape of road and actual speed).

You're right chaps. It works only when a route is active.
Sorted now, thanks!
