And the most expensive brand to maintain goes to...

Why keep the BMW if its by far the most expensive to maintain?

Nice paid content. The link in the article redirects to the homepage of the website sponsoring the article. I'd like to see the method used to calculate the costs (outside of two oil changes a year) but yeah, nothing.

I saw that article, too. Weird, because my MB C350 SEEMED way more expensive to maintain, especially when you figure in BMW's covered maintenance. Admittedly, I've never done a side by side numbers crunch, but it is my perception...and since I currently own an F82, I am going to blissfully (if not ignorantly) stick with my perception.

That is a HUGE gap between BMW and the few that follow it. I'm really surprised that the discrepancy is so large. I wonder if it's a certain costly repair that occurs more frequently, or if the cost of each repair is somehow so much higher.

Edit: YUGE

Yeah, in all fairness it did cost me 500$ to do my water pump/thermostat. I did the work myself too.

Not if you sell right before the end of 4 year coverage. Well...now...3 year.
I intend to change every 3 years anyway.

Who reads the articles? I just like to make uninformed opinions based on my own feelings or the feelings of those who actually read the articles.

So yeah, I can totally understand why Toyota is the most expensive to maintain, those sly Asian bastards.

Surprising to see Lexus so low compared to BMW/MB

Where are the luxury brands like Porsche, Mclaren, Ferrari?

I think (not validated) that this is why BMWs depreciate like a stone...

So, wait! They are basing those numbers on a bi-yearly oil change. So a BMW costs almost $900 per oil change?

I would like to see the breakup between labor an parts. Sometimes, for the bimmer, the parts are cheaper than the labor needed to put them in. I had an e90, and after the 6 years window (with extended warranty), I was spending avg. 2.5K/year in upkeep for the next 2 years.

I assume this math is calculated based on things breaking outside of warranty and the work done at the dealer... which is somewhat dumb as I have no idea how anyone would maintain a BMW out of warranty at a dealer... parts prices are rather comparable to other cars if u buy them outside of dealer.

...edit... is this just maintanence? this article is retarded... you get 3 years free w any new bmw and afterwards at an aftermarket shop, its cheap

This link is a joke for the following reasons:

1) The first 4 years on a BMW are free. (included in the price of the car)

2) Nobody changes their oil twice a year.

3) Once its out of warranty, nobody in their right mind would go to the dealer for maintenance. Although its not mentioned, the prices show are calculated on dealer pricing.

OP, thanks for sharing. (sarcasm)
