Weinfest in "Zeil am Main" - Bavaria, Germany...

Fränkischen Weinfest im Zeil am Sand, near Bamberg.

I thought I would give you guys a taste of Northern, Bavaria. This area that I live in. It is called OberFranken. The Bamberg area is mainly known for their many (200 plus!) beer breweries… but they also “grow and bottle” a fair amount of wine here too. Fränkische qualitate wein!

Here are a few pics I took today. Almost every town in Germany has these nice fests throughout the year. In the fall lots of wine fests are common. Enjoy.

Dackel

More official photos from Zeil’s Wine Fest here: lots of people dressed in traditional German clothes!

The pretzel man and his wife!

A small horn…

Yummy Bratwuerst!

It is always a good time when the ladies jump up on the tables!

Even the “little ones” get in on the action…

I still prefer a good German Bier though!

Thumbs up

Geez, I miss Germany this time of year. Erlangen has a great fest (Kirchweih?) and then there's the big fest in Nürnberg. Always a great time.

Ahhh yes, Erlangen's Strawberry Festival! Forchheim just wrapped up their AnaFest this past weekend.

That looks fun. Thinking of it, I should ban the OP for writing 'Bravaria'.

Best regards,
south

Altstadt-Weinfest in "Zeil am Main"

a "bump" for an old thread.

Every mid summer(late Sept) the little village of "Zeil am Main"(near Bamberg & Schweinfurt) holds a little Weinfest in the center of the town. It's not to be missed!!

Ah, new wine (fizzy and cloudy) and onion bread (like pizza without the tomato sauce.)

Good stuff as long as you don't overdo either one.
