Tuning options 120i LCI?
HI guys.. soured the forums and the internet and there doesn't seem to be much support for the LCI model. I see a lot of tunes for the previous 118i. Looking at piggy back options preferably. I see race chip but any tuning company that has a tune for every single car out there scares me and the lack of sensor integration is another concern and leads me to believe that its just a boost controller. What are you 120I LCI guys using.. and oh.. also what you are using for exhaust mods.. similar story.. lots of support for pre LCI and I think only super sprint offers something for the LCI model?

Never seen anything else for the 120i. I see Ess tuning has an option but 2x price of Tmc. Tmc also has phone app control

+43hp seems reasonable to handle with the standard brakes for moderate sporty street and road use. Do you think so? Or an upgrade of the brakes should come Next. How big are the stock 125i brakes compared to the 120i?

I think the M135i brakes are just about right for our 3-cylinder F20 with 136 hp. :-)

For stopping that powerplant you need to add a parachute hehe.
My brakes are also fine...i dont use brakes that much as I tend to use a lot of engine brake in advance. |

I bought the M performance brakes for mine, but returned them when I found out they didnt fit with my new 18" wheels. They were a bit too big. Bummer! They look great though. Manufactured by Brembo, and ventilated disks.

Engine brake can be taken into consideration when you have a NA engine... not so many available today in the new cars...
On topic... that BR Performance from Belgium has some great offers! |

It seems all N13 regardless of 114,116,118,120 have a stage 1 220hp 310nm which are 125ifigures, but in a squeezed engine. There seem to be a stage 2 with hw added to 240hp. Bmw has left the engine to 120i with a final 177hp, before substituting It for the 2 litre B48 with 184hp since mid 2016. So now its a legacy engine
I Guess its safe to run the tune with conscious driving, without flooring It for longer periods and letting It breathe. Long uphill motorways fully loaded or towing in Hot days pose more Risk for a tuned car. I wonder whether all supposedly competent tuners do the same tricks or there are differences in quality, as the figures are mostly idéntical, or even the Tunes are just copies of one. |
