F21 LCI Arrived

Today arrived
116i M-Sport Alpinweiss

The 3 cylinder 1.5-Liter TwinTurbo Engine (109HP / 133 lb-ft):
Smooth running engine with enough hp for the wife.
The only thing missing with this engine is the torque.

F20 vs F21 LCI

Enjoy it!

Looks sweet, think that's the colour & wheels I'd be going for

Is that the M+ pack you've gone for or just the brakes?

Thanks!
Yes, it's expensive but the wife choose luxury above horsepower.

It's just the brakes, The ''M Sport Brakes'' upgrade.

Congrats, looks great.
I like the wheels and brake combo.

Looks the nuts that, sort of kicking myself for not going Ferric grey

I know they 'look cool' but the Sport brakes are a bit excessive for any of the models under 200bhp. Expensive to add and expensive to maintain down the line. Not putting a downer just my opinion.

Mine is due end June!

I would prefer a middle thing for the 116i, like 125i brakes. I can run the stock brakes into fading on race tracks, but the M Sport brakes are bigger than necessary.

Congrats, very nice ride! I'm contemplating an 116i M-Sport as well.. just waiting to see a decent picture of a 5-door in Mineral Grey to pull the trigger.

I'm really curious to see how the engine bay looks on that thing. The weight is about the same as a 4-cylinder 118i, so I'm hoping the weight is pushed back a bit for more driving fun.

Glad to hear the engine is smooth, that torque deficit can easily be fixed with some chiptuning. I already noticed that Ziptuning is promising 167 bhp and 305 Nm for this specific car!

Even though it is a 116i you would never know the difference visually.
We need to see the LCI s on the front page.

No, it does not: they introduced those fender badges in 2014. For M135i just as well. There's a distinct free option to omit that decoration. Notice the car misses the rear badge. And, after all, why not, since an M135i can have more ///M badges than a real M car?

why not??... it's 109 bhp!!.. lol!! - the ///M badges on anything other than an ///M model.. be that 'M performance' or full fat 'M cars' are just ridiculous! just cheapens the brand.. just my opinion of course!

There has been ///M-badges on regular models with M-Technik or M-Sport options since the eighties. The real M-cars have a number integrated in their ///M-badge.

I'm WELL aware of BMW model designations and don't need a history lesson ovekvam...

and regarding 'real' M cars - the M135 isn't a 'real' M car, neither is the M550d for example - but they still have ///M as part of their model designation..

the difference is that I guess BMW were more subtle about it with things like the E30 where you were lucky to get one on the boot and gear knob/steering wheel..

look at this example though - the thing is splattered in ///M badges - side wings, foot rests, steering wheel, gear knob, wheels, brakes - surprised there isn't one on the boot and grill...

it's actually quite funny - you can get one of the lowest powered BMW's you can buy and plaster it in ///M badges.. it's not really an annoyance with this car (more with BMW) - I used to have a F20 116D M-Sport and it annoyed me when I had this as well!

Yes, the real M-cars have only a single digit. The ones with triple digit numbers descend from the E12 M535i.

looking at BMW's own differentiation:

BMW Performance Automobiles benefit from the unique expertise of BMW M engineers, with a special, fine-tuned powertrain, suspension and steering system. This results in vehicles that offer an exhilarating combination of sheer dynamism, comfort and everyday usability. The extra-sporty character of BMW M Performance Automobiles is further emphasised by a number of striking exterior and interior details.

This car (and mine before) were plastered in ///M badges - but there was NO ///M engineering that went into it!! - it was just the body kit.. (which is kind of my point)- BMW's marketing is really screwed up with these cars.. and it HAS cheapened the ///M brand in my opinion.. at least other makes have clearly different lines: Audi has S-Line and R-Line as trim levels with their S and RS performance models distinct etc...

The Audi guys have the same discussion. They don't like the S-badges on non-S-cars.

For me, ///M used to be Motorsport in the old days. Then it was Manual transmission, and now it is just Marketing...
