If you had to replace your car tomorrow
I know we come from all parts of the world, some of which have high restrictions on emissions (company car tax groups in the uk if I'm not mistaken?) import duty etc etc there are. Another member said the i3 makes sense in his country due to cost and facilitation of charging. In South Africa you won't be able to charge it anywhere and it will cost a fortune to buy. Close on M135i money.
Then fuel consumption, again some countries seem to tax, in South Africa our fuel is just very expensive and insurance is often based on engine size. No further limitations or considerations in this country. So I drive a f21 125i m sport estoril blue and a recent incident on the road (Bmw handling and brakes never disappoint) had me thinking well, what would I replace my car with should something happen to it? Another car to my exact spec is great but not worth getting excited about. I've owned this car for 7 months and as much as I love it, the idea of just buying another identical one won't give me that new car excitement. Even in graphite this time not EB( still a striking colour) Thought about the GTI and as an ex GTI owner it's come along nicely... The A class doesn't do it for me and then there's the 3 series. A nicely specc'd 328i is an appealing thing, but a bit of a step up budget wise. Wouldn't want a 3 series with less motor and toys than that. So, what would you replace your car with, if you had to? |

This is a bit complicated for me lol.
I would go for a 328i if the F30 LCI was out tomorrow. But realistically, it would be either a 428i or CLA250 (with AMG package of course). The Audi S3/ BMW M135i is appealing too.. |

The issue would be the delivery time for a new car, so I guess it would have to be a second hand car to avoid being without a car for months. Maybe a five door 130i from the previous generation?

Probably a 120d, maybe an X1 2.0d X Drive providing I could be certain that either the timing gear had been replaced with the modified kit or it was fitted from new.
Other than that, maybe a Ford Focus, Mondeo, Jaguar or even a Lexus or a Honda any of them with around a 2L diesel lump would do what I need it to do. Whatever it was it would not be new and it would not be on a finance or PCP agreement.

Well, if i had to replace it from 1 day to another, it would probably indeed be a used car. Maybe an e92 320d. However I would try and work something out with the garage to be in a new car asap. I find a new car is probably more trouble-free the first few years..
Then I would like a 220d!!

330d touring. The caveat is that this would only be if I'd taken leave of my senses again and bought new.
In reality it would be something old and cheap to commute in and by that I mean very cheap so that I could also buy an Elise and an e30 325i that I would convert to 328i. Or maybe I'd build a Westfield, or buy an M3 or a Z4MC or I quite fancy an integra, or perhaps an S2k, fancy doing a turbo'd mk1 mx5 and taking the bitch drifting, also fancy a MK1 golf cab..... So many scratches to itch and life's to short to be buying the same car again.

Alternatively I could find a well-loved Megane RS250 and a Lotus Elise for a similar budget.

Let's say it's in the show room already, I'd go with the I3. Basically we do short ranges and it's good for the environment. Subway station usually comes with ample parking, so it is easy to transfer to subway. I am only 170 cm, so I hope there are backseat rooms
If budget allows maybe a Go Kart on the side, hee hee~ |

My choice would stand between 220i, Golf Gti or Octavia RS.

I have been looking around for a replacement for my M135i, simply because I've had the car for 12 months and I like to try different cars. I've driven everything from A45 to S3 and have considered upcoming cars like S1 and the new Cooper S, but nothing has been able to give me the same excitement of the drivetrain of the M135i. For example, the S3 felt gutless when compared to our cars.
So I've decided that I will keep the M135i for another 6-12 months or until something else comes out that excites me. This could be the RS3 or A45 black series, otherwise it may not be replaced until M2 is released! So to answer your question, I think at this point I would have to get a grey M135i (I have EB now) without adaptive damper, and put on a set of KW V3. |
