Personally I don't mind the 5GT-inspired headlights; just thank god they did not copy the tail of the GT, that's ugly. |

The F20 design is very polarising. Either you hate it or you accept it.
To me it's a matter of character. It is a close to perfect car for it's class. The only wrong thing this car has done is not having it's eyes corrected by plastic surgery. Instead it chose to stand out full of self confidence. Showing character. I love it for that if not exactly for the one-of-a-kind eyes. Another example: The X6 is a car that easily can be hated: Not pretty. Too fat. Too little space. Too high consumption. A beast. So damn politically incorrect. But tons of character. I love it. When it comes to my own baby the 6-series F12 i must admit that I fell in love with the shear beauty of the design. Just to make you understand i'm not totally nuts!

BMW spend money on research, not on marketing-fixing a messed up design after building it.

Ive seen in the flesh on the street several times and i like the whole package...until i get back to the front.
its not that the headlights on their own are an ugly design (I like the headlights) Its just the headlights dont work on the 1 series. On a different car I can see them looking good. And does this surprise you? I mean Von Hoydonk is the man that designed the Bangle Butt. |

Wow... here people in the US complain when they get 2.9% LOL
Here it also depends on your credit score... so it varies from person to person but 11% thats steep... on a 4 year loan you probably end up paying like 30% in interest alone... Definitely worth to pay cash if you have the money |

I don't think the headlights are ugly either standalone... But they look terrible on most pictures of this car.... If they had just put them 2inches closer to the grill and lowered them a bit, it wouldn't look like they are sticking to the sides of the car like it does now... Quote:

The only reason 1 series look ugly is to make 3 series look good.

I study car design and i really have no idea why the bms are getting so ugly.. in my opinion i thinm because they are trying to bring back the sharknose seen in various concepts like the m1 hommage, bmw i8 concept etc its like slowly mixing and matching all sorts of shapes and hope for the best.. audi however everything looks the bloody same. Bmw is just plain ugly lately, if they would just sort that front end out rather than mashing everything together! Very unique design and like one said, full of character, but aesthetically pleasing at first glance? No. Same with the f30. But thats just me.

My favorite part of the 1 series...
I really like the roundel on the front of the car, it is round and flat, we call it a flound in the design department, we laughed so hard I had milk squirting out of my nose. It was a good week Jack Handey, Deep Thoughts Last edited by Glim; 11-21-2011 at 03:30 AM.. |

The funny thing is that the new model lines differ (IMO) from esthetic perfection (F10) to pieces of discussion (F20). I call it having character though, not being ugly. Me be they try to challenge the audience and invite to a dialogue......? At least the design department of BMW does not bore us like they do at Audi.
