Engine mounts

I have noticed that there are vacuum hoses going to the engine mounts on some of the LCI models. Anybody know the purpose of these hoses?

Probably to help reduce vibrations.

Wouldn't that make replacement down the road more complicated and expensive....

I would expect the engine mounts to last the lifetime of the car. But I don't quite understand the purpose of the vacuum hoses. There is a valve as well, as if something can be switched on and off. Maybe the mounts will stiffen up in some situations?

Hoses of the Holy

My (too obvious?) wild guess is those "half-an-engine"s could be more vibrant than regular ones due to the lack of a cylinder and that might've made them introduce an active pneumatic engine suspension to compensate according to the combustion cycling.

Could the start stop system be the reason? The frequent start may require additional measures to soften the transient transmitted by the motor to the chassis in order to increase comfort.
