2009 FIT is a GO!!! 39mpg

Arguably the most fun car under 20k.

Given the choice between a Fit at 39 mpg, and a 123d at 45+ mpg, I'd take the 123d.

All I need is for BMW to let me have that choice here in the US.

I've always wondered that. I would say the FIT is marketed to the very very small minority on this forum. I'm in no way comparing it to a BMW. For a 16k car, its unbelievably attractive. My parents have an 08 Cooper S. I'm curious as to how sporty each is. The Cooper S always seems to come in 3rd in most comparos against the Si, and GTI.

the 09 Fit will be a good bit better than the 07-08s... my 07 is great for what it's built for, however it is uncomfortable.. when they called me for the survey some of the things i asked for was:

center arm rest
rear disc brakes
twin vanity mirrors
sidemarker lights on the mirrors
basically more like the JDM model

i'm happy they made improvements in the area that they did

I actually...um...like it. Better engine, more stuff for the money. If the base mini doesn't do it for you, the car looks even better.

Looks great for what it is to me. Like BForbes has mentioned, this isn't a car for everyone; especially for most of us 1 owners.

It has the euro civic design pedigree but not quite as slick. The price is "meh" if it's hard, which I reckon because of high fuel price. I bought my 07 Civic LX at 17k so 16k for a sport seems high. I really wish they have the Euro Civic Type R here, love the design even though it's slower than the Japanese Type R.

Looks to be a good car for college students like me! I however, would take a civic coupe over this car.

I have yet to drive one but all reports indicate that the Fit is a great car. It's definitely the car I would have bought if I were making practical motoring choices.

Fortunately, I'm not.

"The test cars delivered 30 to 40 mpg without any attempt to conserve — indeed with much sampling of full-throttle acceleration. That's better than government fuel-economy ratings for the car. Remarkable. "
"Trip computers in test cars showed: 29.6 mpg in manual transmission model on short, hilly, two-lane loop. Automatic transmission model showed 39.6 mpg in 280 fast highway miles; 32 in 50 miles of brisk suburban driving. "

Heintz, trust me when I say the Fit is funner than ALL the Civics. Its not quite as quick as my little brothers 07 Si but its soo much more fun.

The Honda Fit is a gem of a car. I will be picking one up for my wife when the 09's come out, but I expect to enjoy driving it from time to time too.

It's also slower than our new civic si too. And they do not have lsd.

I'm thinking about picking one up as a DD as well!! Such fun cars. You can slide a 50inch tv in the back with the seats folded flat. I've seen 4 tires put in the back with the seats in the upright position!!! The car is a steal for 16k.
