Agree that neither car is being driven 10/10s, but I think neither brakes nor suspension are relative weaknesses in the M-lite, considering its lighter weight. As mentioned earlier, it's a bit unfair because the current M3 platform is 6 years old, with a NA V8. It ought to make the case to the M engineers that the next generation M3 will need to be a cracker....which suggests it will be all over the current gen M5 when released.

Ah, sibling rivalry. Properly directed, it produces amazing results

It's not the car that matters... It's the driver! But, the M135i is very impressive!

Sorry if this is a stupid question - but will the new M235 have EPS or a hydraulic unit?

Sounds like the guy in the M3 was shifting very early and definitely not utilizing the full torque range. Nonetheless, the M135 is very fast automobile.

+1. Both great cars in their own way; M135i is an overachiever, full of surprises and M3 is of course the more special car, even if it is relatively aged.

I don't even think that there was any real competition in this so no need to take it too seriously, they were probably buddies filming each other.

What does the new M5 or M6 have already? No hydraulic as far as I remember. I believe that last M car who had a hydraulic unit was the 1M in 2011. If even Porsche doesn't offer it anymore, we better forget about it with BMW.

judging from the sound of the m3 at corner exits, he's always in a higher gear than it suppose to be, probably trying to have fun and not put too much stress on the car, compared to 135, turbo cars accelerates at full torque even in low rpm
I can see two cars having fun there. that m3 is still the faster car if the driver wanted to drive seriously, but still that 135m is quick

The M5 and M6 have hydraulic steering actually, but the M3 and M4 are rumored to be switching to electric. I suspect the M2 will follow suit.

And yes, all F2x thus far have electric steering as well, including the M135i.

As other have stated, that M3 was not being pushed . The driver was short shifting most of the time.

The M135 is an impressive car nonetheless .

Neither car was really being pushed, esp in the second video. And the really impressive part is that here in Australia, (with some sensible negotiations) you can purchase two M-lites for the price of one M3. Of course, those who know the glass is half empty will point out how much we are ripped off when purchasing an imported car

That's promising as the M135 has been getting good reviews. Wonder why the 3 can't have a better EPS program if they did a good job on the F20. Anyway - back to the video - the exhaust sounds great. It's going to be a hot seller especially if they add xdrive and a 6mt for us northeastern folk.

M3 driver was not good. You can hear he is in too high a gear on corner exits. Throttle blip and down shift before a turn that really slows the car down is needed and will have the M3 pulling hard out of corners. The car has a great chassis and suspension but if you don't push the car (like that guy) you will not see the car shine.
