Towbars

Hi all

after months of waiting, my new 125i was scheduled to be delivered today. However, the dealer phoned last night to advise that they were having trouble fitting the towbar and needed to order a new muffler from Germany so that it will fit.

This sounds very odd to me. Does anyone else have a towbar on an F20 125i? Do you think I should be concerned at all about a different muffler? I'd like some extra sound, but don't want to compromise the car in any other way.

Another 4-6 week wait is going to be a pain, but I'm uneasy about taking delivery (and paying!) for a car that's not exactly how I ordered it.

I have an towbar on the same car, but it was fitted on the factory. It's a tight fit behind the muffler, but I think it's the standard one.

Is your towbar a 3. party one?

No, not third party. Supplied and fitted by the dealer. In fact the RRP is $2,200 (I got a better deal, though).

When I first ordered the car, the dealer said not to worry about a factory fitted towbar and just to get an after-market one when the car arrived. I did some investigating and couldn't find any third party towbars for the 125i.

This is my very first experience with BMW, and I must say, I'm a little worried.

I have a F20 125i manufactured in march 2012 and ordered with the original towbar option. Your dealer is so stupid ! The best setup is the one provided by BMW when the car is built (option reference: 235). The hardware is coming from Westfalia. In addition to the quality, it makes the rear camera ( if any ) to work perfectly with the towbar. Another very important point is that the towbar implies the use of a specific rear gaz exhaust system. You can check it by your self in the bmwetk.

best regards
