Bilstein B16 coilovers - anyone got them?

So Ive had the M135i now for 2 months and Im ready to do some suspension work. After driving it back to back on the same windy roads with my brothers Golf R, the BMW is under sprung and under damped.

I am considering some Bilstein B16 coilovers, and was hoping someone had some experience with them before I go ahead.

The car is driven daily on the ordinary roads of Sydney, so I dont want something too firm or harsh, but would love the car to feel a little more planted and tied down.

Let me know your experiences! thanks in advance

I have had Bilstein coilovers on previous cars, and was very pleased with them. I do have the feeling that the quality is no longer quite as good as it used to be on the dampers. There seems to be more failures, according to people I know who sell these. I think I would go for KW now.

Thanks Ovekvam,

Im pretty confident the quality is going to be ok, I just want to know what everyday driving is like. I dont want anything too harsh for the street.

They are noticeably stiffer than the M-Sport suspension, but in my opinion not too harsh for street use. Their target market is people like you, not racing drivers.

Both Bilsteins and KW have "street comfort" versions which are close to OE feel in terms of stiffness. These are probably what you want.

I would go for the regular version. As bbenny mentioned, he felt the stock setup was too soft.
