BMW U.S. Reports November 2014 Sales
BIMMERPOST NEWS BMW U.S. Reports November 2014 Sales BMW Group U.S. Reports November 2014 Sales

On the BMW side, the new X6 joins the U.S. model lineup this month adding even more breadth to what I regard as the best BMW model range ever.” To see and hear more of Ludwig Willisch's perspective on the November sales and the remaining weeks of 2014, click here. Interesting that even with the new i3 and i8 sales, BMW could not offset the 5 series decline in sales. Also the 2-series are not showing growth vs. 1-series last year sales despite the good reviews probably because of launch of the Audi A3 and Mercedes CLA (both with 4-doors). I am very concerned with BMW losing momentum.

Much like the 3 series dropping off of C&D's top 10 list, I'm not upset that their sales didn't match up to last November's. Some sales damage to them might slap them in the face and serve as a wake up call.
Regarding 5 series, I think it's fair to say that the chassis is reaching end of life and buyers are waiting for the next model. Regarding the X3, it's just too expensive. There isn't a value proposition with BMW's anymore compared to other luxury brands, and enthusiasts are jumping ship. They don't have enough standard equipment, and the prices keep increasing. Only people they're aiming to appeal to as of late are badge whores, and I guess even they have a tipping point. |

BMW has a FWD based A3/CLA competitor in the pipeline. Figure by now, they kind of have to. The CLA allowed the C-Class to move even further upmarket, Audi delayed the launch of their next gen A4 because the interior of the C-Class was so top notch so presumably they're moving more upmarket with the A4 now that they have the A3. BMW's new entry level car would allow them to do the same with the next gen 3 Series. AFAIK, BMW is testing two FWD cars. Some god awful 2 Series variant that will (hopefully) never set foot in America, then the next 1-Series which looks much better, http://f20.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1031527 |

BMW's biggest mistake was underestimating the A3/CLA market by releasing the 2 series but not a gran coupe or planning a 1 series sedan even earlier. I remember laughing when BMW released a statement that they had no plans for a 1 series sedan, and they quickly changed course a matter of weeks later.
Only downside is the 1 series sedan is FWD, but hopefully it's designed well and has a RWD based xDrive chassis. |

The cost of nearly everything is going up (except oil which is another bad story) while wages are decreasing. It's pretty simple math that even with 8 year car loans now (lmfao), the sales numbers are going to start taking a hit. The "class" of people who purchase these cars is being eviscerated in this country, and it's only going to get worse.

Honestly BMW missed the boat on this one by providing the 2 series in this form. Not everyone wants the 4 door in the size of the F30 and by the time they come out with the 2 series in 4 doors, it will be front wheel drive layout.

I like how the spin mini brand up 9.5%. The YTD trend of -17.4% is not a good sign for the mini brand

I would bet that the event promotions for the X1 took a toll on some 2 series sales. Note that sales of the same 1/2 series models were up 14% for the month of October. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1054212 Agree that BMW missed the boat not creating a 2 series gran coupe (aka sedan) Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 12-02-2014 at 05:47 PM.. |

Reading comprehension fail? “The traffic in our showrooms was very strong in November, especially over the Thanksgiving weekend, and I expect that momentum to continue in December and carry us to an **all-time sales record ** at the end of 2014 " It's pretty simple math.. that BMW sold more vehicles than ever in 2013... and is on pace to do it again in 2014... Read the figures again... BMW has sold more cars this year than last... and more trucks.... the only category that is down is MINI because of the changeover issues with the new models. Sorry that the math doesnt support your social commentary. oh wait.... you said " the sales numbers are * Going to start taking a hit * " ok.. since you phrased it that way.. I'll wait... just like I'll wait for the chicken littles to be right about the US stock market having a " correction" and falling.. pundits have been saying that since last year.. My opinion is BMW should just kept what it was.. A 3 a 5 and a 6.. The 1s are so ugly and the 2s are ugly as well.. All these different models is just confusing.. Keep it simple BMW.. With reasonable pricing.. I would never buy a brand new BMW.. I could afford it and I would never..60k?!? When you can wait a year or 2 and pay 35.. The whole 1 lineup sucks.. Btw I love my 335is!!

Ooh look another Luddite ! So... Mr. new old school... did you forget about the 7 series? BMW has been making those for a little while now... And let's get this again.. BMW should stop making new models because it " cornfuses " you... an outspoken NON BUYER. wow. that's some really great advice. Finally.. the BMW lineup starts around 30K... a mere 50% of your indicated price for a new BMW.. not that it's easy to keep one in the 30s very long.. I will agree with that.. Thanks for letting us all now that one can save some cash buying a 2 year old model. I was shocked to find out that only happens with " overpriced BMWs... " Happy to hear that you enjoy your 335is though! Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 12-02-2014 at 06:05 PM.. |
