Thanks, I was hoping for a Idrive option as well.
I would have preferred a guage. I still like 'Old school'

I think everybody would prefer a guage, and I can't understand why BMW does not allow us to have this. It is only a little bit of software, so it would not add to the production cost.

BMW are reluctant to add a standard gauge as the engine temperatures vary too much in normal driving conditions - they're worried this will confuse the driver.

I hope this is not the reason why. From my past experience, when available, that kind of gauge tends to indicate more a trend than the actual. So for an expected normal range of 90-110°C, they stay at the same level while the value it is still within it. Hidding the value fosters to search the actual temperature and brings more questions once found.

I guess the main reason is that it allowed them to save some money and they did not think anyone would complain. My seller did not even notice that it was not available anymore...

What's surprised me more is the fact that even for M135i they did not consider that it would be something interesting to provide in the iDrive. As the information are avaialble in the M-Performance Race steering wheel, I don't think it would have been difficult to have them add in iDrive.

If you plug a bluetooth adapter into the OBD2 port, and download an app on your smartphone, you can have a temperature guage on your phone screen. It is available in the databus in the car.
