Oh dear. It must be a nightmare to keep those wheels clean in the winter.

@mammut: that looks great! I will use steel wheels. Easier to clean during the winter. where did you buy them?

I personally wouldn't pay that much, but for years had winter wheels on cars when i lived in the UK as it makes it so much easier keeping the 'good' rims.

Down in Brighton we never used to get much in the way of snow, etc but better tyres did always help... just not sure i could go to that amount for them.

The coldness has just started kicking in here so going to be looking next week for some wheels and tyres.

I just have ordered V spoke 411, raped in Dunlop winter sport 3D. I got it for around 1200 euro.
At first I was thinking about getting used rims plus new tires, but the price difference was way too small to take the risk.

Very nice with the 388 but it's a no no for me. As winter rims the cleaning would kill me..

Today I mounted Bridgestone Blizzak LM25 Run on Flat tyres getting ready for winter here in Bosnia. So far they seem very quiet and actually the steering wheel is lighter then on my Pirelly cinturato P7 summer tyre. I guess this is because winter tyres are much softer. I was very surprised to see that my car was not equiped with TPMS sensors located on valve and I guess tyre preassure monitor is controled by ABS? is this correct anyone? Maybe this is not as precise as with sensors but at least you dont have to worry about damaging sensors when replacing tyres twice a year.

Yes, that is correct. The car monitors the revolution speed of each wheel individually when you are driving, and will alert you if one wheel is starting to constantly rotate faster than the others.

It is also normal that winter tires (particularly new ones) will give you lighter steering, since the tire tread is more flexible. As the tires wear down, and the tread depth is lower, the steering will gradually be heavier.

I'm obliged to fit minimum 17" due to m sport brakes.
Was considering to put the 18" 388 style as those from Mammut but was thinking I have almost identical car and should stop following him
Seriously it is too expensive at BMW
So my plan: no run flat, good German quality on the rim, good value for money for the tyre (not too famous brand from big tyre manufacturing group): total 1200 euro for the 4 wheels.
What I am going to get (will order in 2 weeks):
- rim: AEZ Sydney dark 17x8
- tyre: falken eurowinter hs-449 225/45 R17 94V
For info: Falken is part of Sumitomo industries, that means Dunlop at lower price
Toyo and BF Goodrich are also good options ...

Have not received my car yet! But intend to keep the original M135i rims with winter tires. Have never had problems keeping summer rims for winter!

I am pissed off.
The guy told me he checked when taking offset ET45 but it does not fit with the m sport brakes. But it is clearly written on TUEV certificate (just checked on AEZ website).
No winter tyres and full of snow outside.
2 solutions:
- new wheels with correct offset and then need to leave my car here and go for my week of work by train or;
- put some spacer and perhaps it is ok for this week-end...
Any experience with spacers? Possible problems?

Damn that don’t sounds too good, I wouldn’t mess around with spacer's - heard bath things about this solution.

What about selling them and then buy new winter tires and refit them to your stock wheels?

Safest and quickest option, not sure how it will end up moneywise
