M135i ordered, but what about the 1M couple?

there are so many debates over the M135i vs 328i
I guess "M135i vs 1M Coupe" deserves its own topic?

first thing first I ordered an M135i in White, 5 doors (which I hate, but we dont get 3 doors here in Hong Kong)
however, I figured for a slight premium, I could get a low mileage 1M Couple instead

I know the M135i has the same power to weight ratio and its a better daily drive
but there is something about the 1M that just makes me excited about (I have been reading about the 1M for three nights now)
and the delivery of M135i is still an unknown (mine was supposedly built last month but agent says it is showing nothing)

I dont have a kid so the extra doors are not appreciated
I have not tried the 8 speed auto, so cant say if its the pick over the stick like the review says
we have no tracks here but I do enjoy driving spiritedly
it there really going to be any collector value on the 1M even with its higher than expected production volume?

I dont know guys, what do you think??

The fact that the 1M is a limited production run will make it become a collector item. Here in Saudi, they were being sold at USD62.7k - 64K. Used ones, 4-6 months later are being sold for USD72k. It's crazy.

I would've loved to get a 1M but they're all sold out and my closest option is now the M135i which delivers almost equal performance, more practicality at a cheaper price, quite the bargain if you think about it rationally.

Emotionally, no super-powered hatch will compare to the 1M coupe for me, and I think you're the same.

If you can still get your hands on a brand new 1M then go for it! Prices should go up for this car.

That's just what I'm thinking anyway :-D

I actually had a 1M Coupe on order, but personal circumstances last year meant I couldn't take it. I did get to drive one briefly and loved it.

I have actually been looking for a 1M here in the UK and they are still fetching strong money so I decided to take the plunge and order the M135i.

If I am honest I would still prefer the 1M, but the M135i is getting good reviews and as I don't really track the car it is probably a more sensible choice for me. Plus the deal on the M135i is much better than I could get on a 1M.

The M1's last sell price in Aus was $129,000 (on road) and second hand it is sort after. My dealer has a guy offering him a $5,000 bonus if he gets one as a trade in. It is true they will probable become a collector car as fewer and fewer will be on the road. (most will be written off by their drivers).

I have driven the M1 and it is not for the everyday commute (some may disagree).
It's power delivery and handling are very unpreditable when pushed hard compared to say a M3 or the M5
Still, an very exciting machine to drive.

The M135i I drove in Dubai recently is not quite in the same slot as the M1, however, it is still a very, very quick machine and far more user friendly than the M1, and the interior of the F20/F21 is a far more enjoyable space to spend time in.

For sheer driving pleasure it is a difficult choice.
The M1 is a true M car (slighty insane), the other is a M inspired car with the goodies you need to handle the urban jungle.
