There is a torque limit for the ZF 8AT fitted to the M135i, which is just above the (unmodified).engine's output. In the early days, there was quite a bit of chat about this, but I've not heard of any broken gearboxes. As with all modding, you are taking risks.

Mmmmmm
Buy an M2. That way you get the handling and brakes to go with the extra power and torque instead of a potential hand grenade with more power than its chassis can manage.
Its relatively easy to extract loads more HP and Torque from modern turbo motors. How they run in traffic jams on hot summer days is of course an entirely different question likewise how they run in the wet, constantly triggering the traction control.....driving an unbalanced car is anything but a pleasure. An M2 is properly balanced, looks better, avoids any reliability issues, suffers less depreciation, has no hassles with insurance.....and doesn't cost a whole lot more than an M135i with a bunch of tuning gimcracks. |

An M2 is also a saloon/coupe; which to me and many others, is as good as useless. Incredibly awkward rear access, useless for kids, rubbish boot that won't carry anything.
And it had the DCT box which isn't as good as the ZF 8AT. The M2 is doubtless a good drivers car but it isn't for everyone. Anyway an M135i only needs a light tune to hit M2 power. |

What you really need
I take your point about 2 doors....I don't need 4 doors but still find coupes less functional
What we really need is a M1.... as in 5 door full fat M car |

Several people are driving the ZF8 with +700nm. Just limit your boost to ~20psi at lower rpm - you will still make a ton of power up top. Go with the Pure Stg2
