I don't remember what this 318i did, but my red 318iS did a complete lap in 9:36, which should equal just around 9 minutes BTG. This was with regular street tires.

Finding a helmet for the bear was a good idea. I'll think about it. :-)

Took the F20 116i for a wet lap around the Nürburgring today. Didn't drive very fast, but still passed 15-20 cars. Nobody caught up from behind. Drove in Sport+ mode this time, and it felt very safe around the rather slippery track. Saw an AWD Impreza struggle more than us with traction in the corners, and a Honda S2000 did a 360 degree spin in front of me.

I guess some of the track prepared cars are a lot more difficult to drive in the rain than the super stable F20. Or maybe the orange coloured car with the nice headlights in their rear view mirror messed up their focus? :-)

How cool.... Only on a track can you drive the car's potential.

I trust the photographer's settings. He is usually rather skilled. Your version looks a bit overexposed and washed out (the colours) on my computer screen.

Had another lap in dry conditions around the Ring today. Once again passed quite a few cars and was not caught from behind. Passed a Porsche going uphill from Kesselchen, proving the 116i must be very powerful! :-)

(The lap was actually driven at a very calm sightseeing pace with my wife in the car. BTG 10:15. Could have shaved another minute if I was in a hurry.)

Would have nice to see an inboard cam lap with the 116i on the Ring!
How did it behave on the track?

Ovekvam, is your suspension stock, sport or aftermarket?

I've noticed that my car with stock suspension and Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 wheels with
Hankook Ventus Prime 195/55/R16 tires is much easier to control in all types of corners.
Because I have plenty of time to correct the car.
My replacement car with sport suspension and 205/50/R17, felt nervous, rather harsh and
the rear started to slide earlier. It felt like there wasn't much time to correct the car,
it just went without warning.
This was very noticable in the rain with the traction control off.
Both cars are 118i's and the tire pressure was correct.

So the suspension upgrade is off my 'make car better' list.

The car is a standard 116i with the basic M-Sport suspension and basic steering and brakes. I have replaced the run-flats with 205/50-17 Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tires on 8x17" wheels. For use on the Ring, the car was pretty much perfect. Precise and stable, and the brakes are awesome. The rather soft suspension setup soaks up all the bumps, and makes it possible to ride some of the kerbs. The power feels a little bit lacking going uphill, but it does with most cars on that track.

The thing with soft suspension and high profile 16" tires makes it even easier to handle on the limit, but I think most people would find that setup sluggish and lacking in steering response. I kind of like cars like that, but you have to throw the car around a lot to be fast. Almost drifting around the track.

I have no video, since filming is not legal on tourist drives. I did GPS-log the dry lap on my phone, though.

There were some other F20/F21s by the Ring as well. There was an Estoril Blue F20 M135i parked outside our hotel, and we saw a couple of white F21s doing laps around the track. One of them was a 125i with a half roll cage inside.
