Brake Duct/Front Bumper Query

Hi All,

Quick question! I've removed the front bumper from my F20 116d Sport, and i've been told I have brake ducts? I cant seem to see these anywhere?

Also, I dont suppose anyone has a photograph of their M Sport model without the bumper? I'm wanting to swap my standard bumper to the M Sport however it doesn't fit.

Will I need to change the air ducts for the radiator or can I just fit the new bumper without this causing any issues (i.e overheating etc)

Thanks in advance,

I haven't had my front M-Sport bumper off, but it looks quite different to me. On our car, the brake ducts are located at the outer edges of the lower center intake, right under the outer edges of the front licence plate.

You may also have to replace or modify the wheel arch covers, buy air ducts and the front plastic assembly to suit the M Sport front assembly

There is that RealOEM.com site that shows all the assembly

You might be ok without the air ducts being functional, i dont remember seeing any on models other than the M-Sport's. They do point back over the front brake disks, but i also thought they were to do with aerodynamics and the aero-curtain BMW talk about here:

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...odynamics.html

I'm probably wrong tho, but it does seem weird that all M-Sports i've seen have these ducts, but say a sport with the same performance might not.

The petrol and diesel models have different intake areas.

Petrols models have an extra vented area near the fog light.

Diesel

Ahh that's very useful, and will explain the difference.

I hope that the main front air ducts are the same!

While our 116i pre-LCI M-Sport had open cooling ducts for the front brakes built into the front, our LCI 118i M-Sport has no such thing. I have searched with a flash light, and can not find any ducts.
