Replaced stock turn signals with LED [VIDEO]

Hey guys!

I recently took delivery of a 116i. Very happy with the car so far. Very smooth ride (especilly compared to my E92 M3), and OK performance. I added a Hartge Engine conversion, which gives you 171hp, and a lot more torque!

What I dont understand is why BMW releases new cars to market with Halogen bulbs. So today I installed WeissLicht Spektrum turn signal bulbs front and rear (PY21W). The install was easy, and I let this video speak for itself

Are they really LED lights? They still seem to fade on and off. I expect LED to act more digital, like the brake lights.

No, this is a top notch product. Brighter than stock. Lifetime warranty. NO error codes. I have used the same LED's on my M3 for a while, and very happy with the product.

Hi Dizx

May I know how you got them? Did you purchase them from one of the retailers website like bimmian.com?

Cheers

Hiya i've done this on my 125d. Just watch out for flickering upon startup, and also when you are 10 mins into a journey.

I needed to turn off cold and warm bulb checking via E-Sys to stop this flickering.

It's caused by a tiny current sent to the bulb to check if its live or not, and if its not you get a bulb warning. However, the power requirements for LED are so much smaller than halogen, this tiny current causes the bulb to flicker briefly. With Halogen the current is insufficient to cause any visual impact on the bulb.

I am preparing to do this again on Monday when i switch to my M135i so will post the necessary configuration changes if thats of any use

Actually didn't see any flicker with these bulbs, but I can see it on the bulbs on my M3. They are an earlier model.

- First clip shows OEM halogen. You can tell from the pulsating flash
- Second clip shows LED on the left, Stock on the right
- Third clip is all LED. Looks even better in real. Like a computerized flash.

Impossible to tell a difference by that clip. Mostly because of the massive glare and that one side of the car is well-lit and other is in the shade...

Start 45s in. All LED.

If you seriously can't see the difference from halogen, on those front bulbs, im not sure what to say

The mobile camera has a problem with lightning conditions when I film the rear. But I can still see a huge difference

Think you have the advantage of seeing the difference IRL. Then it becomes clear in the clip as well.
