Guiding Fog Lights

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Page 87 of the manual mentions "Guiding fog lights"

I've seen this on some VWs

Has anyone seen them in action? It's difficult to get a reflection off something when you're turning a corner and I've not seen any other 1ers do this.

Haven't noticed it on any BMW yet. Personally I fint it a silly option and I would turn it off when it was available on the F20. How much light does the foglight give nowadays, it is more for show.

Since I have only had the F20 in the summer season (and it is never really dark in Norway in the summer), I haven't noticed yet. I do however like this feature in other cars I have used in the winter. It makes no difference at high speed, but it is useful when going around 90 degree corners at low speed.

I thought I ticked all options about lights, but I haven't noticed any guiding fog lights.....
Which option do you have, and in what is the relevant position for the light switch?

According to the manual it needs to be in auto position

But I can't get mine to work whether the sensor makes the lights on or off.

I have the visibility pack (UK)

Lights are on auto

When I turn the steering wheel beyond a certain angle, the fog light, on the side the tyres points, comes on.

Thanx. Looking forward to check out both this function as well as other lighting functions inside and outside the car as soon as autumn darkness comes here north.

You need the adaptive lights to get the cornering fog lights as far as I know.

Hmm I expected the active headlights to be "instead of" the guiding foglights, Nott a "complement to" them...

Other way round the guiding lights are complementary to the active lights.

From what I know of the active headlights. These only work when .

- the headlights are in the auto position
- the car is in drive or in gear
- travelling above 40mph

Thus below 40 there's no active headlights and the turning lights are required .

Yes lights must be in Auto, but Adaptive head lights work from zero mph, just rock steering from side to side and the head lights plus individual fogs follow direction of steering wheel

Yes, I also have stationary adaptive lights going right and left when I turn the steering wheel in the garage. But it would make sense if the active foglight turning light feature is disabled at high speeds. I don't know if it is.
