Yea, that happened. Instead of the 93 I put in it, I put in a mixture of oil + 93 that was for my 2 stroke bushwacker lol. It took at least 3/4 a tank of this bad gas. I forgot they were mixed. So I mow half the lawn, and it finally dies, and I can't start it up. Once I figure out that I put the wrong gas in, I dump all that gas out and unhook the fuel line that goes to the carb to drain it completely. Then I fill with premium 93. Now I can't start the mower, so I take off the air filter and start gently putting very small amounts of gas (like a few drops) directly into the carb, and that continues for 10-20 minutes. It's still sputtering, but I can keep it running as long as I'm doing this. After about 10 minutes of this, the mower starts running like new. It's not sputtering, and runs fine for 8-10 minutes at the normal RPM. I was able to cut some of the lawn and no problem. Then all of a sudden it starts sputtering again and eventually dies. I can start it up, but it dies again in 10 seconds or so. My next step is to clean the carb, anything else that needs to be done? Am I fucked here? I mean, I have a full tank of fresh 93, I emptied the fuel line, and got it running for 10 minutes and cut some of my lawn with it, what could possibly cause it to cut out after that!?

Should be fine, as mentioned above check the spark plug. Oil/gas mix for a 2 stroke engine won't really mess with the 4 stroke mower engine all that much except some people say it might cause some smoke. Not a big deal though.

I run 93 in my mower also! I keep the fuel for my Honda mower and my Echo completely separate.

Super + stabilizer goes in every gallon I get for the mower.

I once had access to an oil that worked for 4 stroke but was also compatible with 2 stroke, so you could just mix and not have to worry about your oh-so-attentive sons putting the wrong fuel into a machine and burning it up. Can't find that product any longer, the shop where I bought it went out of business.

I don't think you should run higher octane in them, I'm sure it's probably like a car where the combustion cycle in a car, where if it isn't tuned to run on 93 - you'll not have a complete combustion and actually lose power and mileage.

Seriously though, best case you fouled the plug, which is no big deal. Worst case you clogged a fuel filter, (if there is one) which is also no big deal.

Pull the plug and soak the tip, without bending it, in gasoline to get all the oil off, let it dry, reinstall. Or just get a new plug. Once you get it sparking again, it'll likely smoke until it burns off all the oil in the combustion chamber.

me2. no high compression engine, lower octane rating will do.
85 on my lawn engines. I do oil change and tuneups every year or more.

Haha 93 for me. Anyways, problem fixed. Took the carb off and emptied all the gas I could out of the metal bowl at the bottom of it. Managed to put it back together (that's the amazing part), started up on the first pull and back to normal.
