This "moose test" is basically comparing the handling of a real SUV to a couple of cross-overs. I imagine a Toyota 4Runner or Nissan Xterra would handle similar to the Jeep.

i bought a mid sized SUV a few months ago and had a hard time finding the right one.

x5 - wanted a 2013 and up but the car payment was too high
2013 x3 - never really was a fan of it and the interior looked a lot like my e90
2013 & 2014 q5 - drove it, wasn't too impressed
2013 glk350 - drove it, loved it. liked the way it handled, i gave me the extra space i needed, and i enjoy the driving.

the interior was redesigned in 2013 and it looked much nicer compared to the x3. two other factors were the gas mileage and engine. i get about 22mpg and if i recall correctly, the engine was the most powerful of the x3 & q5. at 302 hp, it has the go power when needed and feels nimble.

They kind of seem like haters. I mean, the national highway safety institute crash tests cars all the time and they never say "Don't buy Kia because their crap"

Touareg TDI- Can be had for $35k CPO
4runner - The mid size king still based on a truck platform.
X4 / Macan - I like the most but both will be out of your price...

The 2 above are solid options... if u value reliability stick w the 4 runner, you can have a limited for $35k brand new.

Why does no one like the Nissan Murano?

I have a 2011 and it's perfect for a nice crossover. The new 15 is even nicer and still reasonably priced at 40k.

I have an FX35 (2005 so its kinda old), and although I like it, I wouldn't recommend it for carrying capacity. Without folding the seats, I'd say it's on par with my e92 as far as trunk space. Maybe a tad bigger since it has more vertical space.
