I spilt coffee in mine and forgot about it for a couple of months. I just sprayed it with all purpose cleaner and left a damp micro fibre cloth in there for a bit and it just wiped away.

coffee mostly. wet towel, might have to soak it and let it sit a bit. Don't let it build up, otherwise it'll take lots time to clean.

I never eat, drink anything but water or smoke in my car. Those things make a car filthy inside!

Same here. I don't like to clean the car, so I try to slow down the process of getting it filthy.

I don't even use the cup holder to hold drinks as I use it for coins... it annoys me there is no ash tray for that purpose!

There is a rubber mat insert on the bottom of the cup holders - they are flexible rubber, so you can use a pair of pliers or similar to grab it. They just clip back in once you've rinsed them down.

Got a link? £25 seems steep for something that should be standard on ALL cars!

Ashtray? I prefer my car without it. Only a small minority of the population are smoking, and very few of the smokers smoke in the car anyway, as it makes the car next to impossible to sell when it is smelling.

And for storing coins, I have a wallet. Besides, road tolls and parking are usually paid electronically now, so coins are obsolete.

Personally, I could also do without the cup holders. I would prefer a sun glasses holder.

I went for the "smokers pack" not because I smoke, but I prefer the look of the cover over the front oddments try + it was only £25.

That is how much my uncle paid (25 Euro, Not GBP) to buy the ashtray as spare parts (part #: 51169227890)...he smokes in the car and his 116i came without the smokers package.

I ordered the optional smokers pack for my scirocco to cover up the ridiculous 'hole' just for looks. I've never smoked but it looked 100xbetter. I didn't bother with the F20 but might get it later to cover up the hole which isn't as ugly as VW's effort. I agree re. the lack of sunglasses storage. In fact the storage options on a 1er are non-existent! Bmw really are as tight as a gnat's chuff sometimes.....

I always get the smoker package. Not because I smoke, but to get a closable ashtray for storage, and the 12V plug.

You get a 12v socket anyway, just not a cig lighter?

I disagree! There are plenty of storage areas in the F20:
1. Armrest
2. Doors (they are like 3 seperate areas, I store there two glass cases, my keys, napkins)
3. Small box left (for LHD cars) of the steering wheel
4. Cupholders
5. Storage in front of the cupholders (where the ashtray is)

Right, the 12V socket is standard.

What about the"illuminated ring"? Mine doesn't appear to illuminate, just clear plastic reflecting the under-aircon-controls downward illumination?

I don't smoke personally but in Australia there aren't many electronic metres... all coins... especially around the city requires a fair bit of coins for a short hour or 2 stay. I also like it covered as you can easily have $20 of coins which is an easy target for break in.

I too would like a sun glasses holder but I can live with that under the arm rest.

Mine does not illuminate either. Just a peice of clear plastic. I do not know if it illuminates when you have ordered the smokers pack.

On the M sport pack I have an LED there that along with the rest of the LED interior ambient lights I can switch between orange and white.
